43mm Project Discussion (20 Viewers)

I haven't preordered any and probably won't for a few years, so weigh my vote accordingly, but I prefer the original idea of keeping the pink/red and making the blue brighter.
Everyone else is wrong! :p

Edit: My preferences, in order
1) Change pink to red and make the blue brighter
2) Keep pink, make blue brighter
3) Red and white stripes! Almost all other chips have blue in them already...

i don’t have any stake in these yet, but i think it’s the blue more than the pink that throws these off. or the contrast between them. here’s a quick n dirty of the chip with the lighter blue

Check that table I posted. Best colors that contrast with Black = white, beige, yellow, then orange and pink.

Here's a mock-up of the Yellow with green stripes instead of lavender.

I assumed the green would be similar color that was used on the 25k chip and changed it accordingly.

I don't think I'm a fan.... as expected :)

Would it be possible to try this with Red stripes and Black triangles?

Blue also works with Yellow. Maybe Blue Stipes & Black triangles too?

@Undream, while you're at it, can you also try the other way around?

Or just tell us how you are doing it and I will do the mock-up of all these options! I tried Paint and it was an utter failure hahahaha.

Any yes I edited my comment. Black has the highest contrast ratio vs yellow, so try Black Triangles with Red/Blue Stripes and see what happens.

Quick look at pink removal. Many people have already paid for their chips so I am more concerned with their thoughts.

i have pre-ordered & i would rather keep the pink - being from the UK, we see so much white on pretty much the only chips we can get our hands on (dice chips) unless forking out to import them from USA.

By the way, the White chip is one of the most popular chips in the poll. Anyone notice what colors contrast well with white?

I really think the Yellow chip with Black triangles and Red/Blue stripes could be a winner. Very curious to see it.

By requests of @mummel

Again, I used color swatches from Apache's group photo, so, these are pretty accurate to what they would actually look like (my guess anyway).View attachment 283116View attachment 283117View attachment 283118

Undream thank you kind Sir. MUCH appreciated. Unfortunately none of these jump out at me and yell VICTORY. What do you guys think?

I do like the red and blue. Its possible the black contrast ratio is actually too high.

Any chance you can try Blue triangles and Red stripes, and vice versa?

Thanks!

In addition to maybe the black/yellow contrast being too high, you know what it also could be - because we are dealing with 3 colors here (vs two and just focusing on contrast between two colors), the three colors possibly need to be complementary to each other.

Does anyone know how this works?

If Im reading this color wheel correctly, then if we choose blue, then orange should compliment blue color the best.

But since orange does not contrast too well with yellow, perhaps we go with dark orange/red?

So yeah, yellow chip with blue triangles and red stripes???

EDIT: these are just for fun

ok two more. I'm doing this just to entertain you @mummel ;) I actually would prefer Apache keeps them Purple/lavender as I originally ordered. haha.

HA thank you! Yeah I really like the blue stripes with yellow chip combo, but am not sold in the red in there.

Thank you for pulling these together and putting my mind to rest haha. Really appreciate the effort.

Yellow > blue > pink can also work, depending on the shade of yellow (the more orange the yellow, the more blue you can use):

I'm sorry but a lot of these changes should be considered verses the rest of the set and not in a bubble. You shouldn't only consider what will contrast best on a given chip, but also how the edge spots will look in combination with the rest of the chips in play at the same time. For example the white stripe on the black 100 may look cool on it's own, but not so much next to the white 500. For me that is way too much white in play at the same time.

Fully agree. Test color combo > like > test next to other chips in the series > keep or discard.

Excellent point. $500 chip is white red blue. $100 chip black white blue won't work.

i agree, however keep my opinion limited since i did not order blacks, I did order 200 yellow and having either Blue, Red, or Black in the spots intrigues me

I have pre-ordered and I don't care for the white spots on the back chip. I much prefer the salmon. I do agree that a lighter blue would be better. I'm ok with the yellow chip as is although the brighter the yellow the better. I'm also ok with most of the other suggestions that have been proposed except for the bright red and bright blue spots together. That one is a too many primary colors for one chip.

Hopefully @Undream can test out the yellow chip with dark purple/lavender triangles and pink stripes (I'm curious how this color wheel combo comes out).

Otherwise I like the original yellow if the chip is a brighter yellow and has darker purple/lavender edge spots for more contrast.

But we are nit picking here. These chips have come out great. Excited!

I for one do not like - at all - the redirect on the yellow. I have sets that pop, and I'm not looking for a cheap replacement of those sets. We are well past the design stage, and I dont want a bunch of chips that look nothing like the chips I ordered, because Mummel needs a chart to see what he thinks looks good.

The Yellow chip is soft, easy on the eyes, like a curvy woman. The green might work, but we get away from the excellence that inspired it (AS $20).

  • Yellow Chip - The darker purple could be darker, but it's not bad.
  • Black chip - the blue needs to be lightened up a bit, but the pink and blue work together just fine.
  • Pink chip - I kind of like that shade, but would not be opposed to it being brighter to avoid dirty stacks with relabeled sets including the red chip. I don't have plans to order the red chip (and did not preorder it), so it matters less to me, but I'm aware of the set as a whole - something our late-game designers are clueless about.
  • Blurple chip - again the pink could be brightened, but we are skeptical that it can happen. The orange, in photos looks fine, but if you were to be closer to the HS yellow, I would not be sad.
