Am I the only one that is truly happy with Copag cards? (4 Viewers)

Every time I buy and try a different type/set of cards, I always come back to the Copag cards for one reason or another.

I’m planning to start using Broken Arrow cards starting this week, and I’m hoping these have as much longevity as the Copags.

I haven’t had any ink fade on any of my Copag sets, so i’m wondering if i’m not playing enough poker . For reference, I used to host two to three tables 5-6 times a month, and some months 7-8 times for about 3 years, and none of the ink faded.

Also, the smell thing…. Maybe i’m not getting intimate enough with my Copags…. They’ve never smelled bad to me either.

Truthfully I don't mind the feeling of the stock at all.

My bone to pick with them is that the ink fades quickly and I find the face artwork and pips incredibly boring and generic.

Open a new deck of Copags and compare them to the deck you used for 3 years.

Your cards are likely faded, you just have not noticed. If your opponents are crushing you - they have noticed.

Stupid question incoming: Are we talking the backs or fronts of the cards are faded? ‍

Pulled out a set of Copags that hadn't seen play for a while to see if they worked better in Shuffletech.

For some reason they had a really sticky feeling and so ended up swapping back to Faded Spade even though they tend to jam the Shuffletech a few times a night.
All I really remember about Copags is the top card never wants to stay on the top, also the smell.

Love my copags. Sure, there are "better" decks out there but as long as you enjoy them and everyone at your game does, then if it isn't broke don't fix it!

I love my Copags, especially with how accessible they are. Quick shipping new from Amazon and the used WSOP ones are great. The smell doesn’t bother me.

I don’t mind Copags, but dam, that smell they have. It can be off putting and I rather not use them. I have many unopened setups.

Had em all and tried em all. Copags are fine…certainly better than some other brands that get recommended. They will bleed and fade with a lot of use and a lot of handling.

Unless you are playing several hours a week you probably won’t have the issue.

I personally don’t buy them anymore because there are better value cards available

You can't leave us hanging like that. If there are other cards comparable to Copag for less cost than Copag, you gotta name them for us - the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to deal free.

Simply my opinion:

Better Value and Better Quality:
- Lot Fancy -$10/setup
- Angel PVC - $5-6/deck

Better Quality at Equivalent Price:
- Bicycle Prestige - $10/deck
- Marion Pro - $20/setup

Other possibilities but I don't have direct experience with these:
- Cartamundi CCP - $13/setup
- DaVinci - $18-20/setup

IMHO Copag wins in marketing, availability, wide selection but not quality.

In addition to these. In terms of delivering comparable value-

Desjgn - $16.95/setup - Cheaper than COPAG's list price, significantly better feel, better durability all around.

Faded Spade - $29/setup - Costs 10 bucks more but has significantly better durability. Feel is IMHO inferior to Desjgn.

Modiano Texas Holdem - $16.95/setup - Still my favorite Jumbo index design. Feel may not be as good as good as Desjgn but still has more texture than COPAG.

I regularly buy and use all these cards including COPAG. Why? Because I can't always source Modiano Platinums and I can't justify the cost of using them for every game.

I made a comparison last year here - https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...ano-platinum-faded-spade-desjgn-copag.111683/

Almost eliminates the possibility of misreading the suits on the board, especially when you're the furthest away at the ends of the table.
OK, I figured that was it but I didn't wanna jump to conclusions. We have a lot of seniors in our group who may benefit from that, I'm no spring chicken myself, but as players get older, they tend to like change less, heck, getting them to change to plastic from paper Bicycle cards was already a challenge 10 years ago.......

As the title states, I simply prefer Copag cards over everything else I have tried. They are reasonably priced, easy to obtain, have an "egg shell" texture I love, and I also really like their design/aesthetic. They are also durable. I once used the same set of cards for 2 years of very consistent use in a weekly home game.

These seem like a compromise for most, but they are my go-to set of cards.

I always recommend these for the best bang per buck. Stiffer and different feel than Copag but way better quality. I we were running 7-9 thirty five person tournaments a year and cash games every month at least like 20 years ago, I’d be buying these.

Have them, like them, not my favorites tho   .

If it wasn't for the ink issues, IMO overall the best cards. Perfect thickness, durable, maintain their shape after constant use, last a long time, etc. And truthfully, admittedly I don't use my setups constantly like others do but after several sessions spread out over years I have had zero issues with any of my setups. No fading, no warping, nothing.

Meanwhile it seems like flimsy, insta-warping KEM gets all the praise and Copags get all the hate and I'll never understand it.

That is why I keep hoping @desjgn will make a 2-color deck that has a 4-colored highlight under the pip. 2 color grumps still have their black club and red diamond, the myopic crowd gets an extra highlight to prevent the spade/club mistake.

I agree that Desjgn are superior to Copag in every way. I simply didn't list them because they're not equivalent price. Copags go for around $20 shipped where Desjgn are closer to $26 with shipping.

Love Copags feel. Only issue I have is they wear off on the face side. Still playable...
