I was able to get chips last sale, and could have got much more of what I wanted had I tried without thinking there was no chance.

Basically sign into PayPal in advance, and it'll be what it will be.

What have others experiences been?
I've struck out each sale since Jacks. Been around for nearly 2 years. Tried the practice routines. Paypal open etc.

Didn't make the least bit of difference.

My experiences have left me with what's likely a grim view, but for an example, there are probably 3000+ chippers who want a cash set. Any cash set. There will be like 3 to get. The math is unfortunate.

In all my time, planning and clicking for these sales, I got 3 lady luck sample sets. That's it.

Good Luck! Ill still try...

That sucks man ... I've only participated in TCR's HSI sale, but I was able to get most of what I wanted.

@Castlesinthesky You have to rehearse ... think fast, have backup plans, etc...

I think that 3000 chippers is an extreme exaggeration. And I think the chippers who want “any cash set” is very low.

I think there’s a a good chance if you are after the cheaper used chips, there’s usually plenty of them and they are in lower demand than the minty expensive sets.

there’s certain things that everyone fights over, dirty old RHCs and chipcos usually aren’t on that list.

The simple fact of the HSI 1s and 25s and sets left for sale here on Black Friday, means that they didn’t sell out in Jim’s last sale. Have reasonable expectations. It was as clear as day... if you wanted a guaranteed cash set, pick those brown and white $1 chips, start there.

i think the best shot at a guaranteed score in this sale is gonna be the HSI primaries for the same reason.

or, if you were me, and a chip miser who hates spending more than one dollar a chip... you can be happy with knocking one portion of a set out. You will almost never see .60 brand new hat and cane paulsons for sale again, well nows your chance. Dont miss out.

and I have a different story with Jim’s sales. I’m batting .750 having gotten mostly what I wanted 3 times out of 4 I have tried, and that one I struck out on, I knew it was a long shot.

More power to you! Maybe you could order for me.

My 3000 is not extreme IMHO. There are 7000 users. I'm estimating less than half will shoot for something.

Agree about used stock, trouble is, I only seem to want mint. That's on me though and I cant expect there to be enough to go around.

Just want to checkout with a minty set just once. Lol!

EDIT : HSI sec cash set...and ill pay you a nice fee for landing it for me....NO JOKE

I want some $1s too, but i feel i may well get those on my second go
This is the way...

Leave the HSI $1s for a second purchase after your first is secure. Shipping is combined by Jim so you have nothing to lose. Much easier to get that extra rack of $1s from someone here if you do end up missing then. That secondary set is sweet!!!

if there are 7000 PCF users, my guess is 800 max people logging in (give or take a few hundred depending on how juicy the sale is) to peruse the chip sale, and most of them are looking for the fewer select high denoms and rare breed exotic colored chips. Not the average looking 1s 5s and 25s. we can test it, I’m sure some people have looked at the “logged in count” Vs. the average logged in...

I think I have been a pretty hardcore chipper (again) for the last couple years, but I definitely do not log in and try to buy from every sale, I skipped a bunch, just not my taste.

if mint is what you are after... learn to love the browns...

in fact, I’m thinking the poo-poo brown 1s, the heirloom tomato 5s and the budget HSI 25s Is a killer little combo. Relabel them with a vegetarian organic theme you got a shot at the H.O.F.
Gotta think outside the box... go for the weird stuff... happy hunting. :)

Which $1 chip will go best with these Derby Gran chips? Will label over the $1s:

There will be plenty available

D'oh wish I had held out, that $699 HSI set just needa to flip a Rack of 1s towards a Frac, and its golden.

It's a job I'd prob pass on, because I'm slammed, but Jim was nice enough to send me a few samples to test mill, and the white alt 1s are millable with a bit of work.

That would make a delightful limit set....

OK, so just went back and compared the HSI $1 to a normal RHC chip:
  • The inlay of the HSI is smaller; there's no doubt about that. The extra white around the smaller label is chip. It's not laminated.
  • I ran my thumb over the area where the smaller inlay meets the chip material, and although I can tell there's a change of materials there, I now believe that you would most likely NOT feel this under an over-label.
  • However, upon inspecting the entire area of the inlay+chip material, I still believe that this might be a hair less deep than a normal RHC.
So, I am not convinced that an un-laminated label would not cause spinners. I think the only way to find out is to try one (I only have laminated labels from Gear). But if the depth of this recess is the same as a normal RHC, I do not believe that the smaller inlay's edges would be able to be felt through.

I got my (barrel of) chips today, I immediately murdered one and:
  • Yes, I agree, the inlay is smaller (i.e. there is non laminated chip between the inlay and outer ring)
  • I will state that no sane person could make an honest argument that they could feel the difference between the inlay and surrounding chip height on an undamaged chip.
  • For the last part, I didn't compare it to a "normal" RHC but I can state for a fact that an unlaminated (Gear) label is thinner than the height difference (i.e. if you placed your finger in the middle of an over labeled chip and ran it to the outside of the chip you would notice a distinct rise in height when you reached the outer mold).

Just trying to nail this interpretation. So if HSI 1s were to be re-labelled, should the smaller inlay be removed? Or are you stating that overlabelling will work fine?

@TheChipRoom

Is there any way you can approximate how many chips will go into SFRB? MFRB? LFRB?

Having even a rough figure on this can help me key in on the quantity to shoot for.

Thanks again for all you do Jim.
Shipping to Canada is about weight. Small Flat Rate box holds 4 lbs about 133 chips. Medium Flat Rate Box holds 20 lbs. about 800 chips. Large Flat Rate Box is also 20 lbs max.
