Question....

I think it's surprising that these didn't sell out quickly and immediately increase in value (other than snappers).

I think all of the more experienced chippers knew this would be the case. The chips are nice, I think the primary 1s are going to age very well, some of the coolest rhc1s I’ve seen in a while. Snappers epic. 5s and 25s average. Hundos nice!!!

But Again, once you have been around a while, you get a better vibe for this, while it may seem like chips appreciate quickly, almost right away, that’s not really true, it’s only after the chips sell out and new people are having to piece together playable sets with what’s left do you see increases.

Right now, a lot of people over-bought to make quotas for the rare chips, people happy to just break even/get thier money back on the extra “common” chips they had to buy.

A lot of people also just had second thoughts, I know I changed my mind on the Roadhouse set I bought, resold a month later at break even.

Jim also started prices a bit higher than normal, combating flippers. Maybe a bit too high?

I donno, but look out for Jim’s next sale, the remainder will be sold cheaper, and also there’s some killer spotted roulettes coming up!

I’m really looking forward to those roulette chips. Those are some of the coolest roulette mold I’ve ever seen. Hopefully they are minty.

Question....

Background. Jumer's is my first Paulson set. I'm happy with them. I am confused though.

For the serious chippers out there collecting newer casino sets, why do you think Jumer's didn't sell out in minutes? Is it the look? The casino name? That there were too many recent sales (IG, Sierra Dunes, etc)? The higher cost compared to other recent sales?

Like I said, I like my chips and don't intend to sell them any time soon, or at all, but I think it's surprising that these didn't sell out quickly and immediately increase in value (other than snappers).

Thoughts?
Thank you to everyone who responded. Really great knowledge for me to add to my chipping experience.

I think the price point for these was higher than normal but also not every chiproom sale sells out immediately. Jim had gotten roughly 250,000 HSI 1as and those took months (or more?) to sell and he eventually lowered the price to 60 cents each. Also IOC 5s took a while and the price eventually went down to 1$/chip.

Good to know the history on those sales. Thanks.

Paulson? Bud Jones? Just need to know to... save up, yeah, save up.

There were some spotted Paulson Roulette-mold chips leaked in Jim’s initial pictures of his score, he said he didn’t have time to sort them out for this sale.

Looked amazing if you like roulette mold hotstamp Ed chips. I do :)

From the Chip Guide - I could be wrong but looks like clay to me.

These are made by Paulson (if I remember correctly). Just that they use the "Roulette" mold instead of RHC.

If I am wrong about these being made by Paulson, please correct me.
Yes you are correct. Made by paulson for sure. Clay chips, indeed.

What do you think of the 5s? Mine have a lot of damaged laminate on the labels. They clean up and don't look "too" bad. But I'm trying to decide whether to just live with them, or replace most of the labels.
I like that the Fives are thicker than the others but there are alot with delamination...maybe half the chips. I'm debating relabeling also...Anyone tried relabeling these yet?

There's a PM thread where several of us are discussing this. I'll see if I can get you added. It's not my thread.

that's exactly the reason why I chose secondary 5$

Are the order percentage requirements still in effect? I want to order just a couple barrels of Tropicana 1K, but don't need a bunch of smaller chips to go with them.

Not since the 1st hour mark of the sale, so not anymore now. I’m sure the Trop 1K is sold

Only for 1st hour, but while you can add the Trop $1k to the cart you cannot check out with it, which means it’s sold out.

Still plenty of chips listed as available just have to click around. Examples:

$1 Secondary: 1,951 available
$100 Secondary: 860 available

As everyone that is knowledgeable likely has already made their purchases and folks visiting the thread now may not be in the know, just want to mention chips listed do not mean that is all that is left or will be available. Vendor occasionally runs additional sales, provides chips directly to other vendors, sells in sets later, etc.

Chip amounts are not posted publicly and highly requested to not be shared.

I am interested in getting the Tropicana primaries. However I am wondering how many of the 1s and 5s have the lamination wear problem -- say in a rack, how many can I expect to have that lamination issue? Any insights into this would be great!

For the 1s there were maybe 1 in 20….I re-checked the 5s and it was about 90/100 on average for the 4 racks that I have that had some level of delam…would definatley need to re-label those

Are they just a bit unsightly or do they need to be relabeled? It just seems crazy to spend 25 to 40 cents to relabel a 29 cent chip (not that I haven't done dumber things with my chipping dollars.)

That’s why I went with the secondaries. Primaries cost 10¢ less but even if a fraction needed label replacements it was worth paying slightly more upfront for new chips with original labels.

And I’m probably not even relabeling the snappers to quarters since my group had no trouble adapting to that chance without a relabeling.
