Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (71 Viewers)

I seriously challenge anyone to remember this color/denomination combination I encountered in a T25 tourney. I honestly don't think I ever stopped looking at the hosts cheat sheet the whole night.

By the same virtue, cards don't need indices either. We should just use the old style cards. If you can't identify the rank of cards just by looking at how everyone else is playing them, you should quit poker.

And in fact the game of poker evolved and became wildly popular in the pre-indices era.

However, corner indices are a very different innovation. They allow you to peek at your cards without having to view the whole face. We should salute the unknown genius who came up with the idea.

By contrast, you *don’t* have to hold a chip up to your face to read the denom to know what it is worth. You can (a) remember 3-4 colors when first told and/or (b) infer their value from how everyone else is using them.

So, bad analogy. Indices are not extraneous; denoms are.

Make a bet of 750 using 3 different colored chips

Assigning a different value than is printed on the chip is just insane and asking for trouble.

One host being stupid is the exception which proves the rule.

Like what was thought process here. Could have left the green as 25 then all other denoms x10, reds 50, blues 500, blacks 1000. Still begs question what game were you playing that these values made sense
