Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (16 Viewers)

The problem is that any home or casino plastic chips I've encountered thus far are super slippery, or in the case of Bud Jones, have a suction cup effect on each other when stacked. This is a recipe for the chips not stacking well.

Figure out a non sticky plastic chip and my arm can be twisted for a set that I like. Polyinno hybrids from Sunfly are a nice compromise and work well for me. B+G by the sound of it seem to be the least slippery, but also the least common. Abbiati and Matsui are too slippery for me.
Which Abiattis have you handled? I’ve handled cheap abiatti roulette chips which were junk. But have you handled these? I’d never call these things slippery.

B&G probably feel less slippery because they are heavy at 14g. Same with Abbiati at 11.5g. What is hyperbole are people insisting that these high end plastic chips "are so slippery that it makes them unplayable".

I think the Dunes are by far the best China Clay Chip. The color, the weight, even the sound are all just perfect for a china clay. Maybe I'm biased because it is the first and only set I've purchased, but I did a blind test with all of the china Clays and found that I always ranked china Clays the best based off of feel, and that alone swayed my opinion towards them.

Rotating sets is a little bit frustrating? Annoying? I’m not sure what the right word is. But it’s really comfortable and intuitive when chip colors are always the same (especially with tournament play, but with cash too.). And rotating sets with different colors for different values is the opposite of comfortable and intuitive.

Switched sets mid-game last Thursday. I'm sure it's confusing if colors go outside traditional/cali ones though.

Not if you're playing mixed games!
Many games need multiple cappers
If the cards touch in this game, your hand is mucked. Few others like that.

Do you have mooks that constantly forget what cards they have in hold'em, let ALONE three hands worth of cards? My worry is the card bending that's been shown to happen after peeking with a card capper on. I've been nervous to teach my players to cap their cards because of this.

I’m ready to give up. Sell my KEMS (which I’m afraid to put in play,) sell my unobtainable cartamundi Neders and Tobagos (which I’m afraid to put in play) and just buy a shitton of those new statesmen colors, if they’re really gonna be $6 per deck.

You tried the 2012 wsop I’m sure?

Ordered. We’ll see.
Oh, this is the controversial opinion thread. Here goes:

Card preference barely matter in a self dealt game. As long as they gather, shuffle, pitch, and are legible, what else matters? You’re handling the deck once per orbit, and art considerations are dumb. Shuffle up and deal!!!

Plus each capper's power waxes and wanes over time. You have to make sure you use the right one for each hand.

Everyone knows that... :cool

I take no chances. I sacrifice a chicken, a goat, AND a virgin before every game. Believe me, that last one is pretty hard to come by in my part of town.
