I think the specific seller is the honest seller and the seller who says "look at the pictures" is selling trash
Feels like a crapshoot.I think the specific seller is the honest seller and the seller who says "look at the pictures" is selling trash
I wouldn't be comfortable rating chips today. If I were selling, I would say "look at the pictures" because I don't want to mislead anyone.I think the specific seller is the honest seller and the seller who says "look at the pictures" is selling trash
I agree with this alsoFeels like a crapshoot.
“Look at the pictures” can be someone who doesn’t know what to use, I.e. the chips are darn near mint, but how do you say that without trying to reference mint and they’re trying to be fair.
Or it’s someone who aligned the chips to hide any potential flaws, took a close up photo(s), and then touched up the photo in addition.
So on and so forth. It’s pretty darn easy to build and apply a general concensus.
Yes - I’ve seen this more than once.Or it’s someone who aligned the chips to hide any potential flaws, took a close up photo(s),
How the eff do you people have more than one hobby.Interesting. These things are tough to agree on but not too complex. Don’t know why I’m posting this because probably irrelevant but I’ve always liked this from r/penswap
- [A1] - Mint (Uninked). Shows no signs of use.
- [A2] - Same as A1 but may have been dipped or inked.
- [N] - New or New old stock, un-inked but may show minor drawer wear.
- - Excellent. All parts original and showing only very slight signs of use. Very slight surface scratching; very minor discoloration or brassing; crisp imprints; no significant dings.
[*][C] - Fine. All parts original. Some discoloration and brassing; light or worn imprints; small dings to metal or scratching on plastic.
[*][D] - Fair. Some parts possibly not original; significant brassing or discoloration; very worn imprints; dings, scratches, and cracks that do not impair a pen's function (Please note any cracks specifically in the post). May be a good writing pen or usable for parts
[*][Parts] - Parts or only good for parts
But let's be honest...the seller knowsYes - I’ve seen this more than once.
Pics are more important than the written description IMO.
Good, and sufficient pics to accurately depict the condition- including edges, faces, and warping (or not).
Then I have no issue with “look at pics and judge for yourself”. As long as the pics are accurately representative.
Yeah, to be sure - agreed. I was thinking along the lines of descriptions like “best chips ever, almost mint - lol”.But let's be honest...the seller knows
I don’t. I do? I get super deep into something, try to learn a huge amount, find my presences, and then find a graceful exit. Months of researching and trying pens I found my favorite pen and wrapped up shop on that “hobby.”How the eff do you people have more than one hobby.
on the contrary my dear, I am trying to make happend "custom set" from Matsui for a friend. He wants two highest denomination chips to e slightly bigger. So ok, 39/40mm for 5,25,100, 500 and 43 mm for 1k and 5k. Turns out he wants 41 mm and 43 mm is a deal breaker for him. People are wild...
What”s your favorite pen? We need some pren to go with it as well!I don’t. I do? I get super deep into something, try to learn a huge amount, find my presences, and then find a graceful exit. Months of researching and trying pens I found my favorite pen and wrapped up shop on that “hobby.”
Poker chips have had much more sticking power for me but I know exactly what my end point is and how I’ll be getting there after buying and selling thousands of chips the last couple of years and finding what I want.
The people on here who really do….
Also, blurry line between “hobby” and “spending addiction” lol.
Ummm…wut.I don’t. I do? I get super deep into something, try to learn a huge amount, find my presences, and then find a graceful exit. Months of researching and trying pens I found my favorite pen and wrapped up shop on that “hobby.”

Shoes I can’t really help you. My Hokas are A+ but I am not a shoe person.Ummm…wut.
So, you can speed run me then right? Holy shit this is a gold mine. I could have a pen guy, a PC guy, a shoe guy.
Alright, I’m ready. Hit me with it. Give me your favorite pen that you discovered and that was enough for you to quit the pen hobby. I don’t know what to expect, but if it’s under $150 I’m getting it!
AgreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeSelling your custom set for anywhere near what “They cost from the manufacturer” if effing insane.
AgreeAs soon as your artwork is on a chip, it diminishes the value by 50%.
Not sure what you mean here completely? If you’re relabeling, doesn’t that usually mean that presumably there isn’t a real thing? As long as we are on it, relabeling a chip is a very poor substitute for the real thing.
Taking someone else’s custom chip and removing the inlay to put yours on there is lame. Just buy a custom set.Not sure what you mean here completely? If you’re relabeling, doesn’t that usually mean that presumably there isn’t a real thing?
Depends on the set. I'd buy some of the GOAT sets at retail.Selling your custom set for anywhere near what “They cost from the manufacturer” if effing insane.

It really grew on me. It's what my first custom set was made on and will be what the next custom order (that I got a quote on today) will be made on. Feels good and looks classic to me.Historically, I was in the THC or bust camp. However, being exposed to, and getting some other molds has really broadened my appreciation beyond THC’s.
The old school H-Mold is one of the more underrated molds IMHO.
But let's be honest...the seller knows
Your own custom set should be your GOAT set. If you end up selling it you messed up. Unfortunately I did this twice but sold them at a reasonable price because I'm a realist.Depends on the set. I'd buy some of the GOAT sets at retail.
Though many people think their own set is the GOAT, but it's probably not.
