Wow, is that first part of the calculation ever wrong. The second term is not e^(2*pi), it's e^(i*pi).

e ^ (i*pi) = -1

The sum of the series 1 / 2^n for n = 1 to infinity is 1. (they got that part right)

so it's really 0.002 - 1 + 1 = 0.002


The point of this cheque is that Verizon quotes 0.002 cents per kilobyte but charges 0.002 dollars. See verizonmath.blogspot.com.
