Some American friends of mine were trying to give me a hard time about calling fries "chips" ... hahaha, they said, who calls them that? Mock British accents all around, immediately followed by a couple rounds of "aboot" and "eh" and beer jokes.

When that all died down I asked if any of them had ever heard of fish & chips. "Oh yeah, we have that all the time, love it." Mmm hmmm. Nobody saw the irony.

Stocky is 100% correct. In Aus all of the following things are simply called chips and you instantly just know what someone is talking about. Its part of our DNA. Just like when someone says beer and hands you one or yells fight and you know you are now about to have one then drink beers together afterward!!

As for the truck in a tree - I've worked a wreck like that once. Driver crashed through 2 trees, landed high up in the 3rd. Sometimes I don't know why we train - people will make up shit that you'd never imagine anyway.
