Empress Star and Aurora Star Poker Chips (5 Viewers)

This is too controversial, lets talk about something else.... how about this guy? :wow:

That guy used to put the sunglasses on and pull the brim of his hat down so as not to be recognized going through the tool booth. I gave him the fake excited ooo Matt Damon, can I have your autograph bit . Complete with the fake the sharpie bit before laughing in his face . What a mook.

Empress Star and Aurora Star are grail chips. (y)

Happy hunting! :)

This poker chip story falls in line with the President Casino New Yorkers. Cruise ships that never left the docks. I’m greatful they are all in the poker chip community.

I think there are a great many members here that would disagree with you that they are similar in story to PCNY chips. Without rehashing arguments and referring to threads long since deleted, they are a great fantasy Paulson chip and they required a lot of background work to make the purchase occur (including editing Wikipedia pages and contacting GPI reps on another continent).

I almost wish there could be a sticky posted explaining these chips (and the drama that ensued) that was required for new members to read so these threads don't keep reviving every few weeks... however, I believe there would be more arguing about how that post would be written and what information was included.

Let's face it -- if you bring Paulson chips into the forum in a controversial manner, then you're stuck with answering the same questions about them to everyone who discovers them / sees them in the Classifieds.

(Now... let's discuss which team is the greatest: Boston Bruins, Chicago Bears, Michigan State Spartans, or the New York Mets?)

(Trick question: they're all great.)

I'd rather spend my time of designing and experimenting with 43mm hybrids of the Star chips, at least the body of the chip. Central decal to be worked later.

The chips were made for casino cruise ships that never sailed.
This is a lie.
Nope, entirely true.
Hahaha it’s actually worded so perfectly that nothing about the statement is untrue.
Exactly correct.
I think the goal was to get mint Paulson semi- customs.
FYP. And also correct.
The chips were made designed and ordered as a private venture for chip enthusiasts.
FYP, too. But GPI actually ~made~ them for casinos on cruise ships (that never sailed).

True story.

Well, it's certainly not the Mets (says the Orioles fan)

Intersting. One of the ships in the "fleet" shared a name with an Australian cruise ship that sailed between 2005-2008, and is still active today under another name (Ocean Dream (1982)).

You work/worked at a toll booth? I imagine you must have some interesting stories.

I too wish there were a few threads left up and possibly pinned with some background info on the chips so new members could find it and read up on them without the scab being picked open every few weeks.

Does anyone know the story behind these chips? They started to flood the classifieds, and I've never seen them before. I was thinking they look like relabels, but saw some stamped chips. The pricing does seem steep.

Thanks!!
Gabe

Basically one half of the site got custom Paulson chips (and are therefore a bunch of wankers according to the second half), who complain about not being included in it even though they had no entitlement to be included (and are therefore a bunch of wankers according to the first half).

Whilst some view the events as somewhat divisory in nature, I think the opposite, because now everybody knows everybody else is a bunch of wankers.

Commonality has been reached.

All, some or none of the above may be true, part true or false.

/attempt to inject poor British humour where it isn't wanted

:ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

Though I've been binging on Doctor Who all week, so I'm probably more susceptible to British humor than most.

Half? Not even close. No way something of that magnitude could've happened with a fraction of that percentage.

It's a story about the human condition, right?
We don't have to dig too deep to see all of the following in the story:
Lust
Gluttony
Greed
Sloth
Wrath
Envy
Pride
I'm not pointing fingers, just indulging in some dimestore philosophy.

You forgot one group who:
  • would probably have participated if invited but were not,
  • have zero beef with those who did participate,
  • don't understand others who to this day can't get over it,
  • think it's a great story and are a little awestruck at the thought and effort that went into making it happen,
  • are also a bunch of wankers.
I know of at least one of us!

I started watching the Bourne movies with my sons.

Have you ever read the books? The first one is fantastic. I read it while stationed in S. Korea in 1990. This was my first R. Ludlum book. Since then I've read most of what he has written. The Bourne Identity book will always be one of my favorites.
