Empress Star and Aurora Star Poker Chips (2 Viewers)

You forgot one group who:
  • would probably have participated if invited but were not,
  • have zero beef with those who did participate,
  • don't understand others who to this day can't get over it,
  • think it's a great story and are a little awestruck at the thought and effort that went into making it happen,
  • are also a bunch of wankers.
I know of at least one of us!

Great. Now we've got THREE halves, and percentages of decimal fractions.

I'm off to start a new chip site, because I tells ya this one is about to go down :P

wish I could jack this thread but I've got no more finds

Everybody loves bacon.

No it's going to be called www.pokerchipwankers so everyone knows where they stand.

I'm fairly certain it doesn't already exist.

....I've been binging on Doctor Who all week, so I'm probably more susceptible to British humor than most.

I’ve been listening to way too many overly loud Brits in restaurants for the last two weeks, and I’m sick of British “humor”.

And my mother was British...

This is too controversial, lets talk about something else.... how about this guy? :wow:
I started watching the Bourne movies with my sons. They’re fun. Rounders is cool.

The bourne movies are fine regarding story and action but their camera work is terrible. The next time you or anyone watches them, take note that their cameras are never shot from a stable position. They are always giggling or being bumped around. There is almost never a shot where the camera position is stable. Over time it becomes annoying.

IMO, everyone should be in this group. It was a mind-boggling exercise in imagination and execution.

And if they’re not, given who masterminded the project and who owns PCF, it’s hard to see why they’re still hanging around here. Even though it was short-lived, at least one guy had the balls to create an alternative for those who couldn’t get over it....

I took the constant movement to be an artistic addition to the story. Bourne is never "relaxed" throughout the entire movie. Unlike the James Bond franchise (the basis that all spy movies will be compared) Bond frequently has down time, but Bourne is never settled.

I appreciate that it might be an unpleasant effect, but I think it was intentional.

The book did a great job of keeping you confused if JB was a good guy or a bad guy. Obviously it wont have the same effect reading it after having saw the movie. Still a worthy read imo.

Have you ever read the books? The first one is fantastic. I read it while stationed in S. Korea in 1990. This was my first R. Ludlum book. Since then I've read most of what he has written. The Bourne Identity book will always be one of my favorites.

Sadly... Your post just taught me that the story was a book before it was a movie.

Amen

Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go

Cliffs (timelines/order might be off)

-The boat ships scheme gets underway (possibly as early as Dec 2015)

-Organizer starts recruiting members.

-Wheels start churning. (Makings of three casino "boats" that never sailed, Wikipedia pages, faux company website, etc.)

-Secret group is organized. Some people accept, others decline. Some are not invited.

-Organizer reaches out to Paulson.

-The "group" pools their money together to "buy" "casino" buys chips from Paulson.

-Despite having Paulsons color palette at their disposal, opts to make "tribute" sets instead.

-Behind the scenes, some members have falling outs. NH contingent gets banned, what else is new. (Whether that had to do with the group buy, politics, mean girls mentality or something else is anyone's guess.)

-Organizer and crew pull off the greatest Paulson heist ever (Ocean's PCF)

-Someone that may or may have not been a participant threatens to go to Paulson for legal action.

-Early 2018, some pictures of the chips start leaking out here and there, but mostly go unnoticed.

-An eBay thread pops up with a $5 chip for sale. The "first chip in the wild", so to speak. The harbinger of what's to come.

-Community is split. Some have-nots are miffed that they weren't included. They ask how was it possible for the haves to purchase large quantities of custom Paulson chips? Some of the haves start being condescending, saying that it's not possible to purchase Paulson chips despite literally being part of the group buy, just under the guise of a company.

-Shit slinging is rampant. Mods start going on a power trip, erasing any mention of the boat chips.

-Chipdonkeys.com is born to continue the boat chip dialogue

-Dave (BGinGA), being the only member to be transparent about the whole ordeal, catches flak

-What could've been an archive for the boat chip discussion goes down in flames as the creator of the website belittles a member that is in law enforcement, going as far as to post his personal info in certain threads. A BIG no-no. He tries to sell/pass it on but no one wants that clusterfuck. Chipdonkeys.com is dead.

Well, there you have it newbies. I'm pretty sure I missed some things but it was getting winded. Feel free to add/edit/sticky as you see fit.

What I'm not sure of is when Jim from the Chiproom left or stopped selling to us. I know it's from the boat chip fiasco but I don't know the why.

One of these days I'll write a comprehensive book (or a blog). To be published after my death, of course. :)
