My passwords were broken on Tapatalk this morning for PCF, so I was locked out for a bit. Just reset my password, so I'm able to access the site on the PC. Just have to reset everything on Tapatalk. Other than that, it's looking pretty good.

Any way to view threads with most-recent post first? Can't locate any settings menu for displays, etc.

Not by default but I am aware of a way to do. I just have to make sure to doesn't screw up SEO/Links.

Having the post time/date stamp remain at the top of each post is a HUGE win, imo.... and is indicative of a thinking and responsive admin. Thank you.

I hope my chip totals didn't get reset. Leader board shows correct numbers, but it claims I only have 2500....

Yep, it reset the stack. And new wins don't update the leader board totals.

Also, I can't edit my post above - could only 'reply' to it.

I can fix both.

Is there a "todays posts button" when you are logged in? I can only find "new posts".

Looking good tommy. Like any change it takes some getting used to. The difference here is concerns are addressed and fixed immediately :)

When you click on "New Posts", there will be a link at the upper right of the search results for "Recent Posts". That will provide all threads that have been updated over the past 24h (I think), including threads you've read.

Hi Tommy, looking good so far.

I noticed the Classifieds seem to have forgotten which posts I've read. That's mostly OK since I've read pretty much all of them, but I also don't see a "Mark forum as read" type of button. Am I just missing it?

yeah would love for "new posts" and "recent posts" to both be options rather than having to click through the former to get to the latter.

also, i'm still seeing 20 posts per page and not sure where i can't change that.

otherwise, looking good!

and can get the New Posts button back on the left as the first menu option, not the last. It is an awkward reach in the middle of the screen for tablet users too.

For me, it's in the banner directly below "Home".

Not on the Classifieds forum, it's not. However, I realized that the Forums button becomes a drop-down that includes "Mark Forums as Read" after which you can choose whether that should mark ALL forums as read, or just the one you're currently in.

That's exactly what I'm feeling. I'm not piling on, just making this opinion known again as I only go to CT, hit the classifieds and leave. I know nothing about tech and or why this is necessary. Hope this develops into something I look forward to seeing instead of CT's platform. Sorry Tommy, I hope my last sentence comes to be a reality.

It's getting better for me, I was able to change a setting or two. Trying to like the conversations. Forced into tapatalk, we'll see. Most of the things I did not like when I made a 5 minute visit yesterday have been fixed. I guess an old dog can learn a new trick. You'll win me over it will just take a few more days.

You could also buy my affection by offering me some of your chips at a fair price!!! Read my signature!

What a session, 28.5 hours straight! I feel like Mike McD leaving KGBs. :) It was the first time I ever took one of those 5 hr energy drinks. Damn they work! Got up at 9am on Saturday, went to sleep at 1:30pm today. (and went to work for 8 hrs on 4/4) I took off today. :) I can't believe I feel this good with just 4 hours of sleep. I wasn't planning to upgrade the site last night but I realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to do it with no distractions at home. The wife and kid were away for Easter. (weekends are normal work days for me so I miss out on some family holiday activities :()

Anyway, I did so much planning ahead of time to make the upgrade go smooth but it didn't work out that way. The first 1.5 hours were nothing but problems. Corrupted data imports over and over. F bombs were flying! I did plenty of dry runs with no issues so I was extremely frustrated. Had some CCR, Clapton, and even some club music on shuffle playing in the background. :) Once I figured out the problem things started to go as planned. I was a one man show last night but the process to get to this point definitely was not!

Many thanks to Steve (p5woody), Dave (CndBeerLover), Jack (jbutler), and Dan (Mr. Cheese) for helping test the new software. (If I missed someone, sry. I do appreciate it) They provided lots of good feedback that went into this style and layout.

I will be tweaking some things today/tonight so please let me know if you have any problems. To address some of the concerns that came up over the last few hours.....

  • Posts per page is now correctly set at 30 per page. It will have to be a happy medium for now. The post permalink URLs contain the page number so changing them will break the links. The post above looks like this: http://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/forum-upgrade.5573/page-4#post-48186 I believe the developers are working on changing that in the next version.
  • Post that have old vBulletin table bbcode are wacky. I will fix them as I see them. The 9 Dragrons GB thread FP was fixed.
  • Some permissions need to be re-applied so I will work on those too.
  • I will address the New Posts and the Recent Posts AKA Today's Posts AKA What's New soon.
Thanks for your patience.

I like the New Posts link where it is.

Looking good, Tommy.

Thanks abby! There is actually a good reason why the New Posts link is in that spot. This is a "responsive" design, meaning that you can re-size your browser window to be very narrow and things will condense and resize instead of getting the dreaded horizontal scroll bar. (mainly for viewing on mobile devices). If the New Post link was on the left, it would be the first link to drop off the screen into a drop down menu when the responsive design is in play. The way is it now, that link would remain visible.

Only things that's not working for me is Unread posts when using Tapatalk. When I tap the thread it takes me to a post that I've already read, not the first unread post in that topic like it used to. Certainly not a big deal - just wanted to bring it up. Not sure if it's a forum issue or tapatalk issue.

Yeah it seemed that both on Tapatalk and the site my "read" cookies have been scaled back quite a while (like, probably a month or 2) but not ALL the way to the beginning. Not a big deal, just have to go to the last page.

Site was pretty slow this morning (not as bad as CT, probably halfway) but seems to be clicking along nicely now.

So, no go on having posts appear in reverse order (new posts first?) That was my takeaway from your post above Tommy, but wanted to be sure. Thanks for all of your work!

Exactly, and this is why I no longer use Tapatalk to view the forum on my phone. The mobile-friendly platform is sweet.

I was inspired by this to check out the forum on my mobile browser rather than on tapatalk and I can't believe how easy it is to get around on here now.

Don't know if I'll abandon tapatalk just yet, but it's certainly a much more attractive option than it was previously.

Well, I haven't abandoned it entirely. I still need it for 2+2. ;)

Does Tapatalk come in handy for posting images? I never tried it because I use my laptop for that. (Sorry if that question isn't appropriate ITT.)

Might be a tapa issue. I tested it on the PC and the thread titles in bold take me to the last unread post. If it takes you to the last post and there are unread posts, there should be a button 'Go to First Unread' under the last post.

I think the thread order will make the page numbers be different. I saw a way to add it but I need to check to see if there are any issues with it first.

The cookie issues makes sense. Post read/unread marking is stored in the database. New platform = new database.

If you or anyone else is having similar issues the easiest way to resolve it with a web browser is:
  • log out
  • clear your cookies
  • log back in again
  • mark all forums read and now you have a fresh start.
For TapaTalk
  • I logged out
  • closed the app out completely
  • re-launch the app and log back in.
  • If using a tapatalk ID you might have to clear the app cache under your devices app manager setting. I did not have to do that but all devices are different.

ime, only when you're posting an image saved on your device. you can go the super long manual way of posting images and videos (i.e., actually typing "[-i-m-g-]address of image[-/-i-m-g-]"), but i've not bothered doing that much and have restricted my posting of images to those on my own device when using tapatalk.
