Not my table. My first build 20ish years ago used velvet, in my search for something other than suited speed cloth.

I still have and use a velvet table (green though). Great to the touch, but about 2" glide. It's slated to be recovered because it just not good enough for playing cards on.

The only good thing about that table is they put it on casters, which will make it easier to roll it out and throw it in a dumpster.
