Good evening. Inquiring about hands per hour. I understand there are many variables from how many players are at the table to at what point of the night the game is at and if there are any players who are stuck but generally speaking:

Where does everyone think they’re at. What do you think is reasonable.

I spread a low-stakes NLHE cash game twice a week with a dedicated deal. We typically have a full table (10) but sometimes have less. I prefer somewhere in the 7-8 range but will play 5 and have squeezed to 11 (yuck)

We had a thin table last night and seated 6. It was a great session. As dealer it’s less exhausting to drive the action.

I tracked our 7 hour session and even with many, many times someone went into the tank we averaged 29 hands and hour.

I’m going to track it again this Friday as I’m expecting to have a full table.

So where do people think their games might land and how many hands are you interested is playing per hour.

I think 25-30 is probably a good range with the 25 or so for fuller tables and the 30 for fuller tables.

Maybe if I tell my players I’m tracking hands the two most notorious speed bumps will realize their side conversations and heavy petting are a drag on the action and maybe just maybe I wouldn’t have to remind them every single time it’s their action?…sorry for the long sentence/paragraph.

I'm pretty sure those two play at my game as well. Small world after all!

Heavy petting??

Lol these comments kill me. After a combined 50 hours of play most of my players are still completely flabbergasted when I ask them for option when its limped to the big blind. They look horrified and point to their big blind already out there, and I sigh and ask whether they want to check or bet. They say no they want to check.

Last game I implemented a rule that if you werent looking the big blind auto checked...then I got complaints because magically people wanted to min-raise into 5 limpers. Its a special hell on teaching nights

It appears all games have players that never pay attention. As the host of my home games, I try to keep things moving...ie: are you checking the BB? It's your action, etc etc...
Some are just slow in making decision on whether to call, bet, raise, so I had to implement time bank plaques...2 for the whole session to each player. 30 seconds once put out on the table.
Who do they think they are, Phil Helmuth?

Seriously, they always either act out of turn or not acting when it’s their action.

It’s like they are doing it on purpose, I always have to remind them action on them and fold their action whenever they not at the table

We are on our 4182nd explanation about how to raise properly….and the minimum bet must match the big blind…not the small blind. DAMN!

I am seriously considering ditching the small blind and going with $0.50/$0.50 or $1/$1 to combat the stupidity and speed things up.

Also, how many times do I need to explain how to deal 7 card stud to the person that always selects this game in dealer choice.

Might help but like @4SUMERZ said, this makes my problem even worse, now I have to ask two mooks if they're checking! BOTH will be flabbergasted.

I know having spoken to dealers at the track (Canterbury Park for the non-Minnesotans reading this) where they do count how many rakes the dealers drop, and they say the best dealers are doing low to mid-30s/hr where they keep track. That's predominately limit games of course, the 2-100 spread games are much slower (and more analogous to home games) and can slow them down to the low to mid 20s.

I would guess most home games are in the low 20s, but it would be curious to check. I feel like the button goes around between 2-3 times an hour if we have an 8-9 handed game (so no more than roughly 24-27 hands/hr). And yes, 6 handed will obviously be some faster, especially if fewer hands go to showdown.

We’re going with two equal blinds starting this week.

This is what I did, made the game $.50/$0.50 works great

I'm going to be trying out antes with a button blind. Also going to let the button blind be uncapped so we'll see how that works with my degens. Probably not well lol

Do you mean straddle? If action still starts under the gun, I can't for the life of me understand why I would play in this game lol
