Plus the $1's and $5's being on a different mold just kills it for me. At their prices, they're probably very rounded and dirty.

Getting people to take $1s and $5s gets them off TheChipRoom's shelves, which makes perfect sense for them. I'm just happy to be able to provide others with the denominations that I wasn't planning to buy. I debated waiting for the likely post-buy sell off, but figured I'd rather just get it done at one time. I'm hoping they are reasonably good, else I might be trading for more mint $1s and $5s from others' excess.

I'm sure it has something to do with legal reasons of publicly posting the details on the GPI proofs.

With all the $1& $5 chips that will be in excess I think I will be able to get a 1000 of each for limit sets very cheap!!!!

Agree. I would probably pick up a set, but I'm only interested in secondary. Can't play by the rules, so I guess I won't play at all :(
Did you pm jim? He had indicated some flexibility on all secondary sets, probably depending on size and breakdown.

I will be purchasing the following chips:

$1 - 300
$5 - 600
$25 - 100

If you'd like to make an addition onto my order for the higher denoms let me know.

Great idea, Forrest! (sincerely)

I'm interested in any high denomination chips (500 and up) preferably secondary but will take what I can get. I'm somewhat relieved that the sale has been postponed as I am out of town for the weekend and wasn't planning to be home until just about exactly the (original) time of the sale.

Now I have more time to plan, yay!

Agree with this. Glad to have more time to think about it.

Why was the sale postponed? Has the initial thread been pulled?

The reason stated occc changes so hopefully they aren't backing out and saying the chips have to be destroyed or something.

So is it confirmed that it will not happen at 7pm Monday? But possibly shortly thereafter?

Also...

I am interested in Secondary chips only, if anyone has excess of the 500, 1000, 5000 chips i'll take them.

@BGinGA you posted a decent breakdown in the thread that got removed do you mind sharing that again?

and by decent breakdown, i mean for a tournament set.

I can't decide how much the different molds bothers me. I'm glad to have more time to think about it.

not @BGinGA but this was the breakdown

chip set:

125 x T25

75 x T100

50 x T500

25 x T1000

25 x T5000

200 x others ($1 or $5)

What's the difference in the molds? Is this between the 1s and 5s?

Not much. I'm sure somebody can explain better than me. But the biggest noticible difference is that the ones have a sort of a border around the edge.

Is the sale off? Anyone know what happened ?

Hmm.

I've played with those chips a ton and never even noticed.

You guys crack me up...... a chance to get real casino Paulson chips with inlays and edgespots in decent condition with no cancellation markings for less than what they cost the casino, and it's waaah waaah the molds don't match waaahhh. Please.

Step aside if not interested, there are plenty of people around here who understand the incredible value and rare opportunity that these chips present.

Aw, I think we're probably allowed to agonize over poker chip mold differences on pokerchipforum.
I'll buy some anyway, happily. The question is, how many.

The pricing is no longer valid because the sale has been postponed, so I won't comment on that.

I am only interested in the mint secondary, mostly $25 - $500. Most likely that I'll end up with 3 racks of $100's. Might have considered the $1's and $5's if they were on the same mold and were in decent shape. Still might be interested in some $5's depending on condition. Though any set with mixed molds hurts my OCD lol.

Bottom line is I have no problem with Jim requiring specific breakdowns. I completely understand that he doesn't want to get stuck with the chips that are hard to move. I wouldn't doubt that he ends up coming up with pre-made breakdowns (500, 1000, etc).

It is funny, but you know mold preference has always been a issue for many community members. Also, many of us long timers remember a not-too-distant past where these sets rolled in at least twice a year.

Yep, if you don't care for the molds, step aside. No need to ruin it for folks that may not have a clue about mold preference. Let them come to that determination on their own.

Personally I think this thread destroys the intent of Jim's percentage rules and attempt to have more people get a chance at the higher denominated chips. This kind of thinking that people can skirt the rules based on forming an alliance that isn't necessarily within the intent of the sale rules makes me lose respect for those willing to participate and is also a prime example of what's wrong with our society today.

Proceed to bash me, but you can't deny you are violating the spirit of fair play.
