How many NHL fans do we have here? (1 Viewer)

Yeah, color shit any color you like, it's still shit underneath.

Hey man, seriously, I do feel bad for you guys. It's just fun and easy to rile you up there. It's gotta make the regular season seem meaningless if every year you coast into the playoff only to fall apart. Brutal.
It is a disgrace.

I saw a quote from Coliacovo and he said it best.... it sent something like Price didn't win the series.... he played as highly paid top talented players should play in meaningful playoff games.

Our guys sucked most of the series. But I really don't think Montreal or Winnipeg will do anything to come close to the cup.

Our city is shutdown for covid lockdown here so had the leafs gone further it would've caused a disaster up here.

It's amazing Matthews and Marner can't seem to do anything when the money is on the line, makes no sense. Dangle is losing his mind. It was fun to livestream the game listening to him as he is 10x more interesting. I think the only thing that could be worse is if Montreal gets a beating by Winnipeg and then Colorado stomps all over Winnipeg.

So what's the talk? Trade Marner? You guys are in cap jail.

The difference between this market and all these other markets is the sports scene up here eats breathes and sleeps hockey and leafs….

You amerks here might not notice because you tune into your channels and stations that cover hockey. Up here its basically the apocalyse and these analysts and channels make their paycheque critiquing and discussing all things leaf blue and white.

The kids that play up here have NO WAY to ignore the spotlight. Want proof? Ask Phil Kessel what he thought of the media up here.... the media is afeeding frenzy and these kids just cannot justify their contracts. They make more money then god and when the chips are in the middle they are garbage.

We can debate all the previous series they had with Boston, or even with Washington a few years ago, but the fact remains that this hockey club has not escaped ROUND EFFIN ONE of the playoffs since 2004. You can look that stat up. There is no excuse.

If players want to be paid big boy money, they better show up and play like big boys. It was one thing getting beat by a good boston team over and over, but no one here can tell me Montreal is anything special. Price did make some huge saves and kept them in games, but he is a big boy and plays big.

Useless regular season fact: Leafs were 7-2-1 versus Montreal this year. Means EF all now.

The worst part is with so many other sports happenning, the radio and television will be talking leafs meltdown and uselessness for months. It becomes a sort of mentality and not many pro athletes (let alone kid-athletes) can handle it. Sure the names like Marner and Matthews and Nylander can cash their big boy cheques, but really are they worth it? Well the proof is in results... and they have no results.

Hang that "North Division Champion 2020-21" banner... its worth EF all.

Hey man, my city is right there with you. We only have the Sabres and Bills, and until recently they've both sucked for like two decades. It's like a mini Toronto down here. It's very bleak here. I finally sold my season tickets, I just couldn't take it anymore. I know all about Toronto, been up there many times. I love the passion up there, but I'm super annoyed when our arena get infiltrated lol. Like we always say, year after stupid year... there's always next year bud

I like Thornton. This made me chuckle

The redwings made the playoffs for 20 years in a row and have many championships. Sorry, but you lose.

Making the Playoffs in the NHL is not the mark of success.

Lions, yeah, they suck, almost always.

One playoff win in my lifetime. I'm 50.

The Tigers. Who cares, it's baseball.

36 years and counting... oh yeah, and we set the record for the most losses in one season.

Pistons, many good years and 3 championships.

They all suck at the same time. Help is still at least a couple years away for any of these teams.

Fair enough. 11 Championships will have to do lol

Feel you.

Still, in your lifetime they were great, and won!

Buffalo Bills, 0 championships, missed playoffs 17 years in a row, and lost 4 consecutive bowls. Who does that lol? They have finally turned a corner and look decent.

Buffalo Sabres, 0 championships, missed playoffs the last 10 years and have finished dead last 4 out of the last 8 years. No hope in sight... at all.

I'd trade with you any day :D

Let's just agree both of our cities are sucking in the sports department at the moment.

You make compelling points.

Go Detroit! At least we're not Buffalo!

Colorado and Vegas are having a great series, just like last year. And you gotta love what Montreal is doing, I’m rooting for an Avs vs. Habs series next!

Could well be. But even if the series was still up in the air after that game, pretty sure I just gave Habs the kiss of death with my new avatar. :ROFLMAO:

Should have started Lehner lol  :ROFLMAO: Montreal is really surprising me in this series. I thought after last game that might be it for them.

Lifelong NHL fan (former Oilers season seat holder before I moved abroad), though interest is waning these days. With the way games are called these days, especially in the playoffs, having a superstar on your team is almost to the point of being a liability now.

IMO, the NHL would do well to promote their stars and let them shine.

All that said, Montreal has surprised me considering they made the playoffs only on the graces of gaining so many OTL points.

Which brings me to my second gripe - why are some regular season games worth 3 points and some only 2? Ah, yes, the same reason lesser skilled players get away with murder half the time - parity. Or at least the perception of parity.

At this point, I don’t really care who wins - if I had to pick one team, I guess the Islanders followed by Vegas, then Montreal and Tampa Bay and their $100m roster.
