I ran a pool with local players and ran into a weird situation I haven't been able to figure out yet. Perhaps someone here knows what's up... here's what happened:
My pool was a little different... I had 19 entries... so at the end of day 6 all remaining players were distributed evenly to all pool participants. There were 59 players left in the tournament - so I eliminated the two shortest stacks and then assigned 3 players to every participant.
My methodology was to copy and paste the list of 57 from the WSOP site to a randomizer to assign the horses. The process was documented here for my players' sake if anyone cares to check it out:
Well, as I was updating the eliminated players last night, I ran across a name in the tournament that hadn't been assigned: Kyosuke Nagami. I also ran into a player that HAD been assigned but didn't appear on the day 7 list: Jacques Mauron. Looking into it further, JM no longer appears on the day 6 list either - (the lists of each day were paginated on WSOP site so I didn't go through the vast amount of pages to verify that he even entered the tournament).
Complicating things further, BOTH names appear on this 'End of Day 6 report' from the WSOP sorted by seats... both players were assigned to the same table to start day 7 (lines 37 and 41 respectively): https://www.wsop.com/pdfs/reports/23257/EV81-EOD-6-SORT-BY-SEATS.pdf

The obviously solution was to assign Nagami to the pool participant for whom Mauron was originally assigned, so there was no issue there. But the whole situation is just bizarre.
Can anyone help me make sense of this?

I just rewatched the video I shot and I noticed something:
In the video, it shows the WSOP site and Kyosuke Nagami has 1,000,500 chips and was the second shortest stack - so he was one of the two players who wasn't assigned to a pool participant. This explains that part.
Now the WSOP site is showing him having 10,050,000 chips at the end of day six: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/interest-wsop-me-llb-10-entry.121305/page-5#post-2498869 so obviously they corrected their error at some point yesterday.
So on my list from Saturday AM, Brian Hawkins was shown in 57th place so he was included in the pool and randomly assigned to a player - but he actually was in 58th place and shouldn't have been included.
This still doesn't explain what happened to Jacques Mauron though. His name is clearly shown on the site in the video in 51st place. Now, he's nowhere on the WSOP site. So bizarre.
