Interesting Article - Limit vs No Limit Cash Poker (2 Viewers)

I don't necessarily dislike "risking my stack" but more specifically risking it over a bad beat.

Also, at the end of a session, those who done well usually can trace 80% of their winnings to just one or two hands. To me there is far too much luck involved in NL. And when you play with a group of similar and skilled players (my situation) that have all played together for years....it's almost all luck...or who is drunk, tired, distracted by a game in the tv, etc.

Different strokes for different strokes. I do think that limit hold em is more likely to keep the recreational players around for longer which is better for the overall economy of a homegame. I personally dont like LHE just because I think you can have larger edge in NLHE. I am competitive and want to win the most I can do this better in NLHE. But if you play LHE more for the enjoyment of playing cards and less for the gamble/chance to win money. I understand why you may enjoy limit more

I've only played limit online for free, and then only a few times. And I know my NLHE buddies would never go for it. I'm I'm definitely gonna sit down at a limit table next time I have the chance.

Unless things have changed, most pros only play limit at high limits. The $1000-2000 game at the Bellagio was famous

At my local, there are still more limit tables then NL. The wait list is longer on the limit games.

I think nowadays they play lots of mixed 8 game highest stakes instead of these nosebleeds limit holdem they used to. If they play strictly Holdem pretty sure its mostly NLHE today. As seen on cash game streams like super high roller cash games at aria, poker after dark, high stakes poker etc.

In all the casinos I have visited in the southeast it is the complete opposite. NLHE tables far outweigh LHE in volume of players.

Not sure if I would count made for TV games where they are paid $1000 an hour to play

At least at low stakes, limit Hold'em is a form of torture, IMO. Limit mixed games are a different animal. I play in a weekly 4-8 limit game that is 90% Omaha HiLo, 4/5 card. Lots of fun. Playing at that game weekly for a few years has made me much more comfortable at the Circus Table at meet-ups.

Really good article.

This part that asks the question to why most NLHE people don't like LHE is perfect:

"Is it just because you can't shove all in? Because you have to earn your money one pot at a time rather than in a couple of massive double-ups? Because you basically always have to play four streets of poker?"

That would make a great signature. :)
