Jolly Roger - Another CPC Set (1 Viewer)

god i want to love the ewing mold, but i hate the dice being in it so much.
Yeah, I personally like them in this mold, but could see them being somewhat divisive as we've all been trained to detest dice chips. Ha

But also can't pass up on the mold too, feels like a commemorative "closing" mold, and the story trumps the looks of the others for me.. because I'm sure my friends who have "nice chips" (aka cheap Amazon specials) will appreciate.

Comparing molds..

Edit: Wife picks EWING.. must keep wife happy.

All of your edge spots are so uniform that the $1 chip is triggering my ocd...View attachment 1416199Yeah... I have issues View attachment 1416231
Yeah, I'll likely hem/haw over this one for a while until I hit the "screw it" point and just buy the chips, wherever that lands. lol

I've probably played around with this chip more than any other, and keep coming back to what I have, but might be swung to something similar to your first #3, possibly w/ a dark blue base instead though:

This is so cool. Love the $1 & $5. Think the $1 is my fave. Not a huge fan of the brown NCV, but it’s all subjective.

What program do you use for your mockups? Really impressive.

Thanks!

Oddly the brown is close to my personal favorite, ha. I tried to somewhat get the look of a ship's wheel with colors and spots, but keep going back/forth on a more "X" themed chip, but other issues there.

And all done in photoshop, just what I'm personally most proficient at. I do a hard light layer of a grey-tone blank mold over top of base art.. then just need to adjust levels to make it look right. Works pretty well once you create a good blank mold layer.

Cool - thanks for the feedback, the resolution & chip proof make it really easy to visualize (better than the generic CPC tool). I’ve never used photoshop, maybe that might be the next step on the journey…

Now I see what you were going for with the ship wheel! Your design, don’t change on my ignorant view/ taste. I would struggle to not add a few dayglo edge spots for it to pop, but then it’d take away from the more muted palate that works here.

If you end up going for unique inlays, the Tick-Tock crocodile could be the $25.

Cheers

Kam

What a fantastic design, well done! Any chance you're open to sharing this design if we want to order our own CPC set of it? Or do you plan to offer samples? Pretty pretty pretty please.

I think your mockups have sold me on the Ewing mold.

Also, I’ve been using PS for years too and I thought I was not that bad at it but your stuff is so good I thought you must have been an Ai guru….so I started using that.

Turns out I just suck at design.

Won't open this one up more broadly - only set I want to reserve to just myself. Frankly though, my theme is pretty generic, so not at all concerned if folks make their own (just would hope they look different "enough"). I'm clearly not the first to do a pirate set, surely won't be the last (well.. for CPC maybe..).

Samples, yes - will have a handful of sample sets likely.. if I can ever let go of them, ha.

Yep, some things need to be unique and your own. The possibility of these being some of the last custom clay chips made for the private market I would think would fall into that category.

Always a big fan of your work, and this project is no exception, congrats! It's really different from your usual "colorful Tina chips", which I think speaks volumes about your skills. Looking forward the real thing ^^

I prefer the original $1, maybe just one color blue on the edge for all 3 spots. Great looking set and theme.

Thanks!

I thought u we’re doing a one piece gold roger set

Posting the latest. Have been racking brain on the $500... trying to get something I like, cohesive with other chips (spot progression, darkness/feel, colors to prevent dirty stacking), and purple base has been a challenge. Open to suggestions, but where I'm currently landing... V50 or so $500 ha.

Do like suggestion above to do a hotstamp X, need to think about that one some more still.

Is that charcoal on both the $5 and $500?? If so, I wonder if the edge spot would 'pop' better on the $500 with standard Gray.

Yeah, good thought and something I considered (but maybe not enough). Would definitely pop more to your point (and separate from the $5 scheme more), but was just a preference call there as I traded those off and concerns on popping too much vs the rest of the set.. but I'll simmer on it! I am liking it more at second glance now.

Don’t be afraid to let the $500 pop like a true jewel in a treasure chest. I’ve seen CPC edge spots with little dots like a jewel…

And I gotta say the hot stamp frac gold coin is a no brainer…not the bounty…

Jewel... interesting thought.. not exactly where you were likely going, but.. I could get behind this.

Edit upon edit... waffling... like this, but in the end I think I'm leaning back toward the chip above.
