Where Matsui have a problem is their reds/oranges. The ABS colours are much brighter than nylon but as Mel said, they are slippery. Of the nylon colours, 17 Scarlet looks to be the best in the flesh. The 19 Orange looks blaze on screen but isn't quite in real life.

Maybe it’s my imagination but I bought these in the Zen rebuy and they seem to have a textured surface and are far less slippery. They handled and stack great and I love the red.

I've got both the Zens and the Matsui WSOPs, and Matsui Arubas. I can rate their slippery-ness as follows:

Arubas > Zens > WSOPs

So, yeah, the Zens feel great compared to stock casino Matsuis, but the WSOPs are in a league of their own when it comes to texture/sound/grip.

And you got samples of the 43mm WSOP tributes. You think they're slippery? I haven't heard anyone else say that.

I am misunderstood. Let me be clear; the 43mm samples from WSOP tribute are not slippery, they stack and handle great. I'm just saying that the Zen set were somehow textured in a way that the Emerald Bay chips weren't and the colors on the Zens were fantastic especially the $5 red chip. I think they were both ABS chips. I'm just hoping that this group buy can come up with a 43mm cash set with a really fantastic looking red $5 chip.

Do you know when the Zen rebuys were done - was it before or after Emerald Bay? I'm wondering if Matsui changed the mold to make the chips less slippery.

Sadly the Matsui vinyl samples that I have don't bode well for a bright red like that. I think you're only gonna get that with ABS. Certain ABS colours (like the red and orange) are a light year ahead of the equivalent vinyl colours.

The Zen buy was just earlier this year. I will compare my color sample to my Zen sample after dinner and post a photo

OK @justincarothers, I definitely like that better than just yellow and black or yellow and tan. However, it's certainly not a favorite combination of mine. I would have liked to have seen some type of orange instead.

With that said, this does open the door for changing the frac from pink to orange.

Just so it's clear, I don't think there's anything wrong with the lemon / mandarin / scarlet. But when I saw the brown as the third color, something clicked.

I look at your three options and I said, 34C! And that actually matched the original rendering by Justin above.

So I guess I just happen to like that combination.

I like the brown too

This is becoming harder and harder to resist as the chips get sexier...
I think the pink frac works with the yellow and orange $5. Can we make the $100 better? And is there a better option for a $500 besides reusing the frac? @Hornet

Better 100…Well, the current lineup lacks green. How about black with lime green spots?
