New Casinos / New Chips Thread (7 Viewers)

I agree the the $1 00 is just begging to be $1 chip in search of a decimal.

However, I think people are misguided in thinking that multiple execs sign off on anything as trivial as chip design. Sure, some peanut-headed buffoon did the design work, and he probably has a boss, but that's it. Given that chip design is needed so infrequently, the peanut-head probably has another job that keeps him busy, and the chip design was just one more thing dropped onto his plate... and the task was assigned on a Friday, around 3 pm.

Nobody "signed off". It was a job, and it was done. If he made the 00's look like boobs, there might have been backlash (despite the history of Hustler), and peanut-head would be jobless. But under no circumstances was peanut-head ever compelled to give anything more than a minimal effort. Executives pay attention to art in advertising campaigns. Bonuses are awarded to art department people that create extra income for the property. That's where the art department puts their energy. Not a simple chip.

Who on earth would decide to typeset "100" with such appalling kerning?:vomit:

It is three characters FFS, not a book, you could dedicate the minimal effort to make it look good. And among the dozens of –certainly obscenely paid– execs who had to validate this thing between the designer and the printer at Matsui, nobody said anything? This chip exemplifies everything that is wrong with this world. :wtf:
Agreed! And it’s not like the kerning is off because of the software. That is so off that they had to go out of their way to make it so.

Lol! I didn't notice at first, but now I can't unsee the two 00's touching.

I appreciate the offer my man! I was more looking to get a set of they fit sold to Jim or something. I suspect that’s coming in the pipeline soon.
Probably not speaking of HCL being very famous and being on TV for a while. Not trying to be negative but the reality is that risk outweighs the benefits.

Also, $1 $2 $3 $5 $10 $25 are still clay? Then not yet

Yeah that makes perfect sense actually. I’m hopeful they’ll pull the $100+ denoms and sell them off. But given the fact the lower denoms are Paulson still may mean they will just replace them later down the line.

Green Valley Ranch $2.

I don't know why they would release this unless they are reopening the Poker Room and this is a drop chip?

You’re seeing it in real-time, folks.
The constant decline of the casino chip. For decades, chip design was evolving and getting better and better. And in just a few years, it has devolved to this.
Sad indeed.

Bear claw RHC $2 isn’t sad eh?

It's the inlay.
With all the effort that casinos put into marketing and promotions, to get every detail just right...
and then they put out this plain, white-label, off-centered, looks-like-was-done-on-a-smartphone, trash...

Is no one looking at this stuff before they send it out to print?

I'll bet there's more effort put into the design of their cocktail napkins. That's what's so frustrating.
