Last nights game started with Tortellini Soup.

As half the group has completed the vaccine, the food spreads are starting to fill out once again. :D

The soup contained 3 different meats plus a lot of other ingredients, so it was a touch on the expensive side of things. So I did what I had to do.

Those chips look live. You guys sure trust each other more than I trust my guys, and I've been playing cards with my crew for over 15 years lol

If they are playing cash, does it matter if players steal them? Unless, they steal them from where they are being stored. Other than the PIA to replace them. I assume they are playing for face value of the chips.

I'd be pretty pissed off if I harvested live $5's, $20's, and $100's and my players pocketed them. That's theft. As far as I can tell, @WhiteMamba1646 and @wonderpuddle harvested these themselves without any other financial backing.

Haha it’s theft when you take them from a casino as well?
Meh, like Brie, I'd say it's "renting" more than anything as long as they can be cashed in at any time to get the money back.

Theft would be robbing the casino and running off with chips off of the table and trying to cash them in later without giving the casino money for the chips.

If someone buys in for $200 at the home game and makes off with ten live $20's after breaking even in the game and not cashing the chips in, and then cashes them in at the Aria, the thief is not out anything but the host is out the chips themselves, but they'll still have the cash from the thief's buy in.

I honestly don’t think you can consider one theft but not the other. I don’t support it from a home game obviously. But it’s the same in principle.

In the scenario that you provided the host is not out anything at all since he got the cash value from the chips that he originally “borrowed.” They weren’t his to begin with...

Correct, but it's the principle of the matter. I'd be tilted if my live set of chips was off because someone decided they wanted a live chip instead of their money back. It's rude more than anything.

Yes, I have consistently agreed with the sentiment that it’s rude. You asserted in post #10,482 “that’s theft.” And I just wanted to point out that In principle it’s basically the same as harvesting.

So if you truly believe it’s theft than you should also consider harvesting theft. But it sounds like you don’t actually think it’s theft. More just rude - which I agree with (again).

I have a friend who keeps a couple $100 chips of mine after every home game. I keep his money. His reasoning is if he takes home cash, his kids and wife take it from him slowly. But he can leave the two $100 Chips on his night stand and they will stay there forever.

Caveat: I told him if I die between games, he’s out $200 as the debt dies with me. And if he loses them, he’s out the money.

Second Caveat: I haven’t changed out chip sets on him yet.

If you can’t leave the bank outside around your crew while you go take a piss and know, noone is gunna touch the chips or the money, you need new friends.

Point taken, I feel the same way. As has been mentioned, worst case scenario is that you're out the chips themselves if someone decides to take a souvenir, as you'd still have their cash as long as you only trade chips for cash and don't extend any credit. Can always go and harvest more with their cash
