Small little tournament as usually that I participate in with my new TRKs. Wish I would have lasted a bit longer in play, but got knocked out pretty quickly. It was fun to play with these chips. Everyone liked them and got to enjoy the TRK goodness!

Pokerpalooza ended on a losing note, but I played 11 hours of cash on one buyin. I called off a large portion of my stacks on a NFD that didn't come. So meh.

The Miles Club chips were superb. Great execution on every single chip. Well done, @Sprouty.

(Did I really only take one picture?!)

I'm terrible at taking pictures during the tournament but remembered to take one. The hit of the night was definitely horse racing. We never made it to the cash game. It raced horses for the rest of the night. Two guys bought the game. One of which only watched the pre tournament race.

Dude, looks so fun! Not sure how I can get away from this one, LOL.

Mind if I run the same questions by you - all logistics.

What stakes did you play? It looks like you guys used chips - how much did you have people buy in for? How long was it per "race"? Did you have an ante? What kind of swings did you see (how much for the biggest loser and biggest winner)?

You mentioned pre-tournament racing - now that's a good idea! I'd like to get maybe some pre-tournament horse action in, then maybe 1 more game on the first break although it'd make for a long break, and then I'd be down to do more AFTER the tournament but most likely people won't hang in for that long.

Finally held a home game after a 2.5 year hiatus. No game shots, but the BCC Fun Nites came out for the occasion, and broke in a new setup of Piatniks.

Did not do well in the tournament. Did have a small cash game, which finally gave me a chance to use the Star Wars-themed set I picked up in 2019. Despite being china clays, I really like these chips in use, and they worked well. I hope they hold up over time, as I see these being my go-to set for the small cash games our crew prefers. Now I just need to learn how to actually play this stupid game...

It's amazing how much a couple of gamblers can change a game... I had all my Casino Nacional chips on the table plus one $20 bill in play!

It was my first no limit game in a long time - 10c/25c $25 max buy in. I was in for about $60 at one point and finished the night up about one buy in after a couple of key hands:

- My set ran into a boat.

- I over shoved the nuts on the last hand of the night because I didn't want to bust a guy again. Thinking back this was the fucker that busted my set!!! For shame on my part!

What cocktails did you have brewing there? Fancy looking!

We played 25c, 50c, 75c and $1 for the scratched horses. We anted $1. Everyone bought in for $20, only one guy had to rebuy. I just finished cleaning up the chips from last night, I should've read this first so I could recount the stacks but I think the biggest loser was down $15 and biggest winner was up $20. Two guys broke even +-$1. I didn't time them but most of the races were probably around the 15 minute mark.

I invite my guys over an hour before poker starts for pizza and just to visit. Gives any new people a chance to meet the crew before the tournament starts. We played 2 games during that time.
What do you do with horse racing pots you can't split evenly? Leave it in there for the next game? What about the last game of the night?
Any extra chips that we couldn't divide evenly got carried over to the next race. At the end out the night we take any odd change and play a game of hold-em, winner takes all. We do the same thing at the end of our cash games as well.

Awesome, great information, thank you!

This is basically exactly what I want to try out - 2 or 3 games before the tournament. Same stakes as you played, but I'll probably do a low $0.25 ante, not that that'll change all that much.

How many guys did you have partake in the horse racing game?

Also, what's your tournament buy-in? Just to get a sense of how the 2 "buy-ins" relate....

Tournament buy-in is $25
Cash game buy-in is $20 I have tubes premade and is probably the main reason I chose that amount for the horse racing. Our stakes for cash games is 25c/50c. Our buy-in should be higher but that's what the guys want and like so I just roll with it.
If we don't already have a thread for this game, we need one stat.
We sure do
