Monthly office building tilt tourney… out 5th of 19. Not terrible given I am not a fan of any aspect of this structure. But the guys split 4 ways as soon as I busted with KQs all-in against the big blind who had A4o.

Probably all about equal.

Oh, wait, I did find something I like about it. The unusual denomination colours. Ok. There you go. All the rest I love equally as much, which is about the same as my love for kidney stone pain.

I have mentioned it before but some additional points you will love;

• Rebuys only get you half stack
• The chips don’t have denominations on them
• The levels are made up on the fly by the host at the end of each level
• The level structure is set aggressively enough to ensure that even with 36 people the tournament ends in 3hrs
• 2nd Place gets one buy-in back, winner gets the rest of the entire pool. 3rd place gets a gift certificate to a BBQ joint.
• Paper cards

On the positive side it is catered by a good BBQ joint and plenty of free wine.

Junk tables, OK. Non-denom. chips, fine. Funky chip amounts...why do you need a 50!?? OK. Paper cards, OK.

But no pre-defined structure!?? Host adjusting levels off-the-cuff!?? What in the actual.... And how do you get 19 people at this when I can't even fill 1 9-handed table consistently!? LOL.

What's the convention? The only thing that seems semi-standard to me is, yellow == 1K. And they don't even have a yellow on here.

He just likes to piss it away but for part of the night on a lot of nights he runs good like crazy and it’s nauseating. Last week he was punting away and we eventually had to pump the brakes on his rebuys.

It’s an “industry” game. The guy who runs the game is a well known established leader in his industry in this city and tries to bring people together. He is a very good guy and been doing this a long time. I have tried to make light suggestions but he seems pretty set on the way he does things. No one else seems to mind and this is the one opportunity these players play poker. Honestly the even more frustrating thing g for me is that quite a few people just fire off unlimited rebuys to try and build a stack and just for the glory. So the actual play isn’t very serious. I refuse to rebuy for full price half stacks on an already short stack.

Yeah all i know is they are a different colour of red compared to jack cincy / horseshoe cleveland chips i own

Love this rule! (first rebuys gets you 1/2 stack and second rebuy gets you 1/4 stack, etc...)

If I ever run a tournament with rebuys (which will probably be never, dislike rebuys) this rule will be added.

I close rebuys at the end of the 2nd blind level. Just incase someone gets coolered 10 mins in and hasnt wasted a journey
