Got invited by a coworker to a game, "it's low stakes, friendly cash game" he says. We have been talking a little bit of poker strategy at work, so I know he's not terrible and figure the game should be fun. It was, but I have not experienced anything quite like it before!

All chips were 25c regardless of color. Buy in was limited to $20 (because that used up all the chips). You could not rebuy until you were at $5 or less, and that was limited to $20 as well. Cash plays, and one player was allowed to rat hole cash (I objected but it didn't go anywhere, he apparently loses a lot and they have been doing this for years). There were scheduled puff puff pass breaks after the kids were in bed, and a few hours in it was lots of shoving. In for $40 out for $93 and I have an invite for the next game

I really feel like nobody should complain about matsui or bud Jones chips being slippery after playing with several varieties of dice chips on a squishy playing surface.
Dude this reminds me of the old days when we'd play $5 buy-ins in highschool. Shitty chips and every shittier competition. There were a few nights guys would leave those games up like $30 which in a short stacked nitty 5c/10c game capped (yes capped) at $5 buyins it was impressive. Also the only time I've ever seen someone call with the nut low in holdem thinking they were good.

But in the current game I'm in a got in an argument with the player about the chip that I provide because they told me emphatically that a ChipCo ceramic was a clay chip, a Paulson RHC with a giant inlay was ceramic, the cards mold chips were clay, and my Paulson RHC chips were an entirely different material that isn't clay. I literally almost had a stroke and then they proceeded to tell me that because they dealt for a living they knew what the material was. Unsurprisingly, nobody at the table was willing to put their net worth on it so I wasnt able to capitalize. But I was genuinely amazed that people who haven't the foggiest of a clue about poker chips will get an a heated argument with a poker chip collector. I was just sitting there thinking that they're actually sitting here telling me what a chips made of when I (like most people here) could eye a chip from across a casino and tell you if who made it and if it's worth harvesting.

I'm not sure why I felt the need to share that story, but that picture brought back so many memories of playing with cheap and shitty dice chips. I am so happy to have finally upgraded and yes for all those who haven't played with a stack like that you're blessed.

It’s been my experience that surprisingly, your average dealer knows about as much about chips as your average player, which I’d to say virtually nothing.

Yeah it was pretty surprising to be honest. I let them go on for a bit and corrected them, but eventually got annoyed and offered a $10k bet that if we took a chip and tested the materials there would be predominantly clay. That got the job done and they didn't take the bet. I literally have only met one dealer ever that could even hold a conversation when I asked him about chips. Man knew what secondaries were and told me that Hard Rock Holly has a full secondary rack from there $1-$25k and then they use secondary plaques for the bigger denoms. I tried to get them to sell canceled prototypes though and they didn't even know what it was. So I struck out swinging there.

So I realized that I didn't post any pics from our last live games. We usually play every every last friday of the month, but it got filled pretty quick (single table only) so we ended up doing a "warm up game" the friday before the last one. Here are the pictures. I think there's a 20 pic limit, and I think I'm over it so there might be 2 posts.

Onto the cash game. Who has a 4? (Noone did, but notice the player in top right and his stack. Keep watching)

But 4s were hot. What's another word for four?

Pre-flop action should indicate that this flop means firework. Here? Not necessarily...

I made the wrong tire choice for the start of the RPCGP race tonight. Went with the Hard compound but it started to rain a couple laps in...

.25/.50 $50 Buy-In. Was down $180 so I pitted and changed to the Full Wets. It was a good choice.

IN for $180
OUT for $230

THANKS to @Godzilla28, @quintooo & @Big Money for coming over & splashing around...always fun. (Especially when you get Quads) Which wasn't even the best hand of the night because that award goes to:

I would try to make a guess, but looking at those chips too long makes me ill.

Very good session today, my very first >$1000 score.

In Singapore 1/1 played more than 2/4 after the straddle, so it just more like a 200 BB win game but i going to count as 1000 BB win :)

I also almost got enough to fund my next Chip purchase.

Peak stack was at $1400++ and it helped when I semi bluff with A high on a 77699 board with 3 hearts and the villain call with pocket 5s

Game get very deep stack today, usually there's only up to $2k+ end game for my regular 6 handed. Today end game is $7k 8 handed.

Cool, I see you are in Riverside. You ever play at Lake Elsinore? I played there last night for the first time in years. Here is what the new $5s look like:

I’ve never played at Elsinore, but one of my players did regularly… I’m thinking he will think it’s pretty cool that I have Elsinore chips.
