If I remember, I'm stealing this for an invite poster.

So this post is a bit sad…getting back into the local live poker scene, and while I didn’t succeed at poker (bust out in 6th), I was able to recruit a lot of players as I attempt to start up a card club again.

This was the scene folks…

I am looking forward to showing these guys….THERE IS A BETTER WAY!

I have decided that the TRK's that you so generously sold me will hit the felt this SAT. I still have a seat open if you want to make a small'ish road trip :)

Same chips my brother got, they're the nicest chips I've ever played with.

You've got two options: leave now and be happy with those chips, or stay and spend hundreds/thousands improving those chips. They're mutually exclusive, can't do both.
i think i could walk away happy with a set of china clays. Having said that i just spent 1400 on paulson classics. So you probably have a point..

One day when I am out of college and saved enough to put a down payment on a house, I will probably buy Tinas, but until then it's better than not playing poker. Our buy-in is $0 if that explains the people I play with.

Good luck! Wasn't meant to insult you, totally get the budget but many of us have blown ours out of the water. Good job being responsible, and good luck in your studies.

even if you are in college you should have some form of a buy-in. otherwise what's stopping anyone from just going all in blind every hand. doesn't have to be much, can do 1c/2c blinds if just starting out, or if its a tournament like a $2 buy in

At least play for a dollar - I have a buddy we used to play heads up for a buck a game, hardest dollar I ever won or lost.
I also had a good buddy that I did this with. We also did not have any chips, so we just used nickels and dimes and bet with .05 or .10 bets and raises. lots of fun, never lost more than a buck or two in change.

My buddy was also less fortunate than me, and most times I would leave him any winnings (if and when)

We held our first Heads-Up Tournament this past weekend. Overall, it was a success and I think we will make it a yearly league event!

This first time around, we made it a single elimination tournament. I would personally had preferred if we did a best of 3 per matchup but we were worried that the tournament would run too long. This year was more of a test to see if it went over well. I think we will make a few tweaks next year to the format. We kept the buy-in pretty low to encourage players to jump into the cash game that we also had going on most of the night. As players would get eliminated, they could move over to the cash table if they wanted.

We also had a costume contest that turned out to be only three of us that dressed up. So we just gave out prizes to all three of us!

Here are some pics.

@TravNasty with whatever this costume is. Lol. He was locked an loaded to hand out some chips!

Next was member Jayde who dressed in her renisaunce costume. She had more to her costume than this pic shows. But she also had a sweet Hobbit sword that I'm sure has a name but can't remember what it is.

I decided to dress as 70's Bob Ross.

I really just wanted to show off my "taco meat" which I recently learned was another term for chest hair. :ROFLMAO:

Here are more pics of the evening.

Some heads-up matches in play.

I never really found my groove in this tournament and went out in the first round. Which I was ok with because there was plenty of good booze this evening and the cash game was very good to me later on!

Some of the booze selection of the evening.

I tried the majority of these bottles and they were all very good! I would be happy with any one of them as a nice sipper.

Here is the results of our brackets for the evening. League member, Justin just beat out @TravNasty in the finals.

We were hoping for 16 players for this one but had a couple players that had some things come up at the last minute and couldn't make it. So we had a couple of first round byes. The lineup was randomly generated by Tournament Director. I also was planning to have the TD timer on my TV for this tournament but right before everyone arrived, I was hooking up a Cat5 cable upstairs for a monitor and got a big spark that knocked out my hdmi connection on everything. After troubleshooting it after the tournament, it looks like it fried the hdmi port 2 on my basement TV. I am assuming my monitor upstairs has a fried port too. But we made due with running the timer off my laptop and breaking out the tablet with the old Blinds are Up app.

Here is our winner Justin with his new trophy!

When the dust settled from the cash game, I was in for $100 and out for $325. Not bad for .25/.25.

It was a fun evening and we had a lot of positive comments about the heads-up format. I'm sure we will do this again but with a few adjustments.
