Semi new to the whiskey game. What are some recommended gift ideas (under $50) I should put on my list for Santa? Ive been drinking my Woodford out of any glass with 2 ice cubes. Need to step my game up.
  • Glass set
  • Old fashion supplies
  • Large ice cube mold
  • What else?

Also, the Old Forester 1897 is going fast, I love it. I am going to try and scoop up a few more of those today as well. Are there any other OF you guys recommend that are as good or better?

If you can find their 150th Anniversary bottle buy it!

Whisky snifter. I typically enjoy my whisky with a rock or two as well, but as your palate expands a nice snifter glass is a big plus. Nowadays whenever I try a new bottle, my first few glasses are always from a snifter.

1920 is my favorite Jim. Definitely one of the best bourbons for the money imo. 1910 is great also but has a lower proof point. Statesman is good but compared to the two above, has a lower price/performance ratio for me. All OF bottlings are good in my view. Your choice will depend if budget, proof preference and flavor profile.

Lol he said “I’m getting a hint of tree”
I've watched quite a few of their videos. Very entertaining, and you may even learn something about bourbon.

This one got me thinking... I still haven't decided on my 5 bottles. I'm probably too new at the bourbon game to participate.

Dan and Sean are lots of fun. Their Tuesday night live streams are great, but I think they might be apart tonight due to Covid. Still fun, but nothing like when they're in the hut together. #TeamSean #StabDan

I agree. I prefer the 1920 over the 1910. You know I love high proof bourbons. I think the 1897 has a great flavor profile. As stated, you really can't go wrong with OF products.

Yield from the first 2 stores
Chillin with my breakfast burrito lurking in front of store #3

Haha that reminds me of the “you need 5 firearms” type of video that led to a lot more than 5 until my unfortunate canoeing accident.

Ok, I think I have my 5 bottles but it is always subject to change.

The problem is, I've drank so much bad whiskey that my daily drinker and mixer are probably the same - Knob Creek. But, Early Times is probably my cheapo.

Old Forester 1920 or maybe OF Statesman is probably my "impress your friends."

ECBP is probably my Friday night, something with a little more kick...only because I don't have Stagg Jr. yet.

And Noah's Mill is my current "special occasion," because I only have two bourbons in the $85+ range -- Noah's Mill and Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength. That's probably too strong for most people.

Store #1: "Haven't finished unpacking our order"
Store #2: Bookers, EC BP C920, OF States and OF 1897
Store #3: "Nothing cool today"
Store #4: "We get our shipments on Fridays" --- man I felt dumb, but I did get the OF 1920 here
Store #5: Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Select x 2
Store #6: "We reserve all antique for restaurants"

What I learned: I really only need to hit 2 stores in town because they get allocated more than any other stores in town and sell all of it to the public.

I had a feeling I was going to run into a Weller 12 today. Not this time, but I am happy with the effort!

If you have any buddies in Massachusetts Kappys stores just got their allotment.
