@Perthmike I am with you on the Scotch. When @detroitdad busts out his Laguvlin it smells like a magic marker to me. I do like bourbon but I can’t do peat. Ironically I had a glass of Chivas last week and while drinkable I would prefer cheap bourbon.

On another note got this Woodford for Christmas from wife and kids. Is Woodford trying to avoid the infamous “neck pour” with this bottle.

Fran and I are pitching in and bringing a good bottle of something to the game tomorrow. Not sure what just yet!

I have one sample set left. Should I do a giveaway or contest?

I spotted old rip van winkle 10 at myrtle beach yesterday. They wanted $799.98 I said hell to the naw naw naw.

Was out going to the dentist and getting a haircut. Got to my new favorite store right as the liquor truck put a case of this next to the back room. Got my guy’s attention, pointed to the case, he opened it and sold me a bottle for $45. Good day!

I used to buy that several years ago for $26. Bourbon prices have gone nuts. People are collecting bourbon and not drinking it. That's like buying mint chipes and never hosting.

Can't find buffalo trace eagle rare blantons etc here in NC because people are either standing in the parking lot waiting on the truck or if those bottles are spotted it's posted on FB and they're all gone within an hour.

They won some award and the price went up up up I believe.

That's a little crazy. my local store does keep it in the back area but they let you back there to get something if you have been around the store for a while. they intentionally keep that stuff for folks who come along regular and not just the truck followers. Used to be able to buy Elmer on the shelf 5 years ago now its not even in the back area but in the owners private safe that you have to be with him to open. he does open it to sell it but its his way to keep someone from grabbing all 12 bottles or whatever he gets lol. You are right the collectors who don't drink it running the prices up and the distillers who undershot the demand 10 years ago are having a hard time aging juice.

If you like gin & tonics (we do too), have you tried the French 75?

-one part lemon juice
-one part simple syrup
-two parts gin

Shake with ice, strain into a tall glass, and top up with champagne ( 3-5 parts).

If you get adventurous, substitute Cognac (or rum or bourbon) for the gin.
I have not, but I'll give it a go. Had one of these the other day which was pretty awesome .
