So every year, I pick a favorite new bourbon that I had never had before. This year, it was a tough choice. Belle Meade Cask Strength caught my eye at first over the summer.

... But then I found Smoke Wagon. This stuff is amazing!

Both the Belle Meade with its sweet/spicy, along with the Smoke Wagons deep, rich caramel flavors make them my favorite new bottles of 2020.

How much are you guys scooping up the belle meade bottles for? I see them randomly but usually between $80-$90

Watching this thread is like watching @navels scoop chip hoards. Where do you people find these goods. I cant even find ECBP.
I know the managers at several Bottle Kings and Joe Canals. They use email lists for their preferred clients (me), and I call incessantly when I know a shipment comes in.

Sadly The Reserve Cask Strength has been discontinued. When I found that out I had to scoop up as many as I could find. I got them for $60 a piece. The smoke wagon I usually get for $70, but this is a special store pick which I believe was $80.

Normally the prices I the l end up paying are:
Stagg Jr: $50
Rock Hill Farms: $55
1920 Prohibition: $52
Birthday Bourbon: $170
Four Roses Special Edition: $200
Pappy 10/12/15: only retail via raffles

I think the Belle Meade I just scooped up was $69.95. The 1.75L ER were $64.95 and I couldn't, but should have passed on the EHT SB $44.95 (I have 6.5 bottles now)

Ha! MGP guy are you?

Yeah both are doing great stuff with sourced bourbon.

The BM Cask strength hasn’t really been discontinued, only changed slightly to all bottles being at 108 proof instead of batch by batch.

Yes, but one of the reasons that I think the Belle Meade is so awesome is it's high proof. It's extremely smooth to sip especially given that alcohol content... But even better it makes for a fantastic mixed drink because the higher proof doesn't dilute as much. So I consider it discontinued. The 108 proof might be just as good ... perhaps maybe slightly worse for a mixed drink, but it won't be the same.

As far as MGP yes this is the first year that I've started trying some of the sourced bourbons. I've pretty much been a Buffalo Trace / Old Forester guy up until now.

Stopped in a hole in the wall store I’d never been to. Didn’t expect them to have anything great. But I caught them unboxing a delivery. :wow:

Just knocked 3 of my most wanted off the list, and got 2 of each!

And to quote Super Troopers: “That little guy (on the right)? I wouldn’t worry about that little guy.”

The results of my holiday bourbon exchange...

All are new to me, so this definitely did its job. Think I'm gonna open the Old Forester first.
If anyone has experience with these, would love to hear your thoughts.
I've had the kings county many times, one of my favorites. I moved across the state and my new local state liquor store never has it... I do miss it. They need 750ml bottles!!!

I can’t find new riff. And that Knob Single Barrel is probably my favorite bottle that I own.
I'll trade you the new riff bottles for those wellers  :ROFLMAO: .
I was surprised they had the Knob SB there actually - didn't show on their website, but they had it off the shelf.
