Well that expalins why it was on the shelf for $55... I probably should have grabbed another- oh well. I keep forgetting to bring my phone into th eliquor store to take a shot of the selection to get recommendations
No regrets big dog. You WILL enjoy that one. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

neither have I :( probably won't. I believe both are out of my drinking budget.

What even is a "drinking budget"?

Lol, I need to get one. I have 80 bottles now. Several months ago all i had was a 4 Roses and a Bulleit rye. My wife hates it more than she did with chip purchases over the years! Except that she agrees that it is a powerful trading commodity, should the shit hit the fan.

Love 1920.
So...I picked up two more bottles of Antique 107 and two more bottles of Blanton’s today. The new honey hole is sweet. If I keep catching the store right after delivery, Antique 107 might become my daily drinker. It’s actually a few bucks cheaper than OF 1920.

Cheers!

Your luck with timing will eventually run out; but don't let that honey hole get away. Befriend the manager; get your face in there, and you'll be rewarded :)

How you liking the Antique 107? I always go back to the Weller 12 after I try a different bottle from that collection...

i wish that was the case here! I've only seen these bottles in OH at retail.. around here they go for ~$150 and there are very few stores that carry them.

I like Antique 107 a lot, but I might actually prefer Taylor small batch. And I do love the cherry of the OF 1920. So...I’ll have to mix it up still.

I can’t afford or even find Weller 12yr. And I’m still hunting Stagg Jr.

Blantons used to be easy to find but I haven’t seen it in a year. Granted I haven’t been hunting

Someone once described Stagg Jr. as a "Hot Mess" to me ... I guess I like hot messes; you'll definitely like it if you like cherry of OF 1920. One thing to look out for if that's your flavor profile is Four Roses OESK or OESV. You'll normally only find the mashbill/yeast letters published on single barrel store picks, but if you ever see one of those, definitely pick it up.

On @JeepologyOffroad recommendation, I searched for Rare Breed for a few weeks. Once I found it, I bought 3 bottles. Lol. I guess it’s popular here.

It’s interesting. The nose is full of oak and pepper.

The palate is almost like a rye, very spicy with some oak. The finish is long and powerful rye spice that ends a little sweet.

It is great, but my palate prefers OF 1920 at this proof (~115) and price ($50-$60 for me). OF 1920 is a cherry bomb, while WT Rare Breed is a spicy mother.

“Chewing” does bring out more of the vanilla and burnt caramel, but that rye spice and maybe cinnamon are still strong.

Mmm, delish. I'm going to have to check out some of the OF series...have only tried the standard OF 100 proof.
