I’m a fan of AE Rye as a desert dram. Never had (or heard of) the Redemption finished in Rum, only the 7 and 8 yo, the 7 being fantastic but from a few years ago.

Think they just released it as label says batch 1. I agree with you that AE rye is super delicious and a wonderful dessert. The Redemption was under half price so was there’s that. It was okay and I think better than the Basil Haden style. But paled in comparison to the AE. I’ll revisit it again in a couple of weeks.

My real dilemma is the new Barrell releases CH36-38 as they are finished in my wife’s favorite local riesling barrels

I think Abe Lincoln drank from one of those. THAT I can get nostalgic for, or transport myself back when I drink it. 1975, not so much.

And I still think the label on Weller 107 makes it look like cheap cinnamon whiskey.

I want the Old Ezra 7yr but can’t find it here. Online, it’s $100. If the Taylor is $59, that’s a pretty standard price around here.

I think it's a different one, Elliot. That bottle with the can is batch 4 which is the last of the series and priced way above the batches 2 and 3. The one you saw was probably either 2 or 3.

If my mind serves me right, I think that's MSRP or close to it for batch 4. I wouldn't pick up myself. Batch 1 and 2 are fantastic Ryes and can be found around $200. Still up there in price but ⅔ of batch 4 and tastier, imo. Only had a sample of batch 4 so take that with a grain of salt.

You’re right. But even at $189, that’s more than the price of two bottles of MWND, so a hard pass for me unless it is twice as good, which I gather it is not. Cool retro label though.

I have the batch 2 and 3, but they were only $200. I'm gonna wait and see if the batch 4 goes on sale some day. There are still 2 and 3 sitting on shelves.

It’s sooo good but my tongue stings. I didn’t wait the recommended 10-15 mins breathing. But I love it. It’s actually less peaty than I expected.

Finally revisiting the Knob Creek 15 Year. Much much better this time around. Still a little funk mid to late palate, but definitely drinkable and more pleasant than the first pour
