Where in NY?
Thanks for the idea, Jim. Much better than my generic infinity bottle. Finally, got my Infinity labels. Pretty cool, that was a 1897 bottle. I am also soaking a Weller 107 to remove the labels for the Poor Man's Pappy bottle

All sealed extras. This is getting ridiculous and poses a serious question. Back stock: How much is too much?
Given that new bottles are being released every year, do you guys keep your back up inventory in check? I think I am going to start...

I believe @Saoliver has a couple of Knob Creeks
I've been busy too. But I'm slowing down/running out of storage. All sealed extras. This is getting ridiculous and poses a serious question. Back stock: How much is too much?

Yup. Something like 1/2 a bottle to a bottle/week with the wife. The problem is that I buy 2, 3, 6...sometimes 12/week. I’ll keep buying Weller and Taylor when I see them. But I’m good on most everything else. You guys drink too slow
Yeah I’m like two or three glasses a week but buy 2-6 bottles a week. Problem is when you are trying to figure out which store is the best to be “in” with you have to sprinkle the infield. You guys drink too slow
I was going to say “you people are why I've never seen these bottles in a store”, but your hypotheses is better. You guys drink too slow
That is true. I am averaging a bottle per monthYou guys drink too slow
Agreed -- you cannot do better than Springbank and Mortlach (and Mortlach is remarkably overlooked!)....I find I can put Craigellachies alongside Springbanks (funky) and Mortlachs (meaty) in terms of being 'difficult' but rewarding.
Well, there's Scotch, and armagnac, and Cognac, and Salignac, and rum, and bourbon, and anejo tequilas, and other interesting whiskies from many other countries and US states ... and if you drink a bottle of wine with supper every night, it's kinda hard to keep up with them all.You guys drink too slow
It is a great dram for sure. I get some marmalade as well. It's a good combo of sweet/tart/bitter. I love it. But yes, it is expensive, LOL!!
Now, imo, it is not a Malt that would please everyone, especially folks starting on Malts. It is challenging at first. For long time drinkers though, something out there is just a thrill. Although they have totally different challenging profiles, I find I can put Craigellachies alongside Springbanks (funky) and Mortlachs (meaty) in terms of being 'difficult' but rewarding.
Glenfarclas is a *great* Scotch -- the 15, 20, and 25 are all absolutely terrific, IMO. Right up there with Springbanks, at much lower prices.Hahaha I'm sure that Craig Double Cask is a nice one but a little above my pay grade. This one was the closest thing I had opened.

I had 4 online games going last night so forgot to post Whiskey Wednesday Poker Pour.
What is a fair price for ETL? What is its MSRP? I'm assuming finding it in the northeast at actual retail price is a fool's errand, but what range should I expect?
So if I can get it at $100, I should consider it?2-3 years ago ETL was on every shelf readily available at $40. Now it’s impossible to find, but I’ve had the opportunity to buy it through allocated lottery still at $40. Secondary is around $200.
This is what I meant when I mentioned the stuff you have no interest in today could very well be a unicorn next year. I’ve heard from multiple store owners that Eagle Rare is now allocated, which I still can’t believe....just like I never thought I wouldn’t have Blantons or EHT SB readily available all the time. I think we’ll see it with Henry McKenna also. I’ve seen the price creeping up, and many stores are now keeping them out back or 1 per customer
I would pay $100 bc I really like it but it is definitely not worth any more.So if I can get it at $100, I should consider it?

I tried it (thanks!). It is a smooth drinker. From a flavor profile, I think you could buy something similar for a lot less. But 100 is about 50% of secondary price, so if you want to have a bottle of ETL in your collection then it’s not terrible. Try the sample first.
Yeah, super smooth. Often an entry level Bourbon, so wasn't sure how you'd like it given that you kind of dove headfirst into the Staggs and HandysI tried it (thanks!). It is a smooth drinker.
