Do I want to buy a second bottle at $240? It'll dollar-cost-average me to just under $200/btl.

Lol, ok. Well...I suppose I ought to try it first, right?
Just seeing this, but that bottle is an absolute slam dunk. I've had every year (2008-2020), and the 2020 is a top 4 for me ... in a world-class lineup.

I know bourbon value is a strange thing sometimes, and input from strangers on said bourbon even more so, but I would unequivocally buy a full case at $240ea.

Well, I've had a hell of a week catching up from "snowpocalypse" here in Texas. It's tough to describe how much progress & momentum is lost in daily life after nearly a week without power/water -- work, exercise, kid schedules -- you name it. Or maybe it was just me?

Anyways, sitting at home today, slightly overwhelmed while waiting on some delayed chip shipments to arrive, I was surprised by a gift from a friend. Couldn't have come at a better time. They are good drinkers, indeed.

Oh, and the chips arrived, too. Cheers!

If you pass on that second bottle, can you get it for me? I'm still looking for my 1st bottle at a decent price. :)
If I pass on it, sure, but it was a solid hour or so away from me, and not in a direction I tend to drive. And with tax and shipping, it really isn't that great a deal.

I had to join in on the fun. Don’t worry. I have more.

I've been toying with a negotiating tactic when trying to haggle prices--any thoughts? Basically, many places around me have secondary (or near secondary) pricing, and I've even heard shopkeepers basically say they price at secondary so they don't get cleaned out by flippers. So, my thought is that I ask if they can drop the price, if I agree to slice open the foil cap. Basically, I'm saying, I'm a drinker, not a collector/flipper.

An example: a place has THH at $400. I'd pull the trigger at $200. If they'd agree to that price, I'd break the seal, so they know I'm not a flipper. Any idea if this has merit?

Depends on the store. I tried that at my local store for a GTS and they wouldn’t move off the asking price.

Why would any store take less than they could get? That's just bad business.

My entire city got like 50 bottles of that one. I couldn’t snag one. Lemme know how it is
Got lucky here. Had one store that got 4 cases. I saw them all first day, didn't buy one, because like I said before, I'm still nursing a half full A119. Then I went back a couple days later and he was down to 4 bottles. Decided it was time to get one then.

Because for most of these stores, the bottles just sit forever. Most shops around me that have GTS have it priced from $600-1000. Few are sold at those prices. Another shop had GTS at $450. And it wasn't selling. They offered it to me at $350, but I'm holding out for $250-275, tops.

Maybe offer them a sample...

A line for Knob Creek and Elijah Craig? Lol. Then again, on bourbon stock day at my local Costco, dudes line up at the door and RUN to the bourbon to see if any Blanton's has shown up.

@joeyshin still plenty of those Ardbeg Corrfhaoiweflagg and Ardbeg Uigefoofoo on the shelves around me, or whatever the names are.

For those interested, we currently have a 25% tariff on Scotch because the UK has a tariff on Boeing aircraft parts. Both parties have agreed to eliminate those tariffs, so scotch should be getting cheaper?

Yeah we have those on the shelf too. Bout time I pick up another uggy

but this ardbeg arrrrrrdbeg! is a committee release and pretty rare. They said I could only buy 1. I’m going to pick another one up tomorrow

My all-time favorite scotch has to be the Octomore series by Bruichladdich. Very peaty but subtle at the same time.
$250+ per bottle makes it an infrequent treat.
