Mixer night. Clearing out some of the turds

I don't exactly measure my pours, for sure. What I've learned during quarantine is that 1 and 1/2 of these and I can still play online poker profitably and not wake up with a hangover. At two poker goes downhill. At 3 next day is no bueno.

by the 3rd pour I hope you’ve made enough from poker to cover the bottle. I honestly think 3 pours would empty that bottle

I prob drink the equivalent to one or two of these pours each night but it’s over 4-5 bottles I’m drinking. It just looks daunting all at once. At least that’s not the cask strength

I think that’s a shot glass and forced perspective haha

Thanks for the sample!
This one is really good, high proof, red fruit, caramel apple? maybe a lil vanilla and cinnamon (very sweet) with a oaky nutty long finish. Delicious, but I gotta say I think I like the Sam Houston more. Which one do you prefer?

Rye lineup tonight, largley courtesy of @juankay20

WTRBR - I was disappointed in this one, I love the normal Rare Breed but the rye was just too hot for my tastes.

YKY rye - this was really interesting, I got tons of chocolate notes that grew on me as the drink went on. May have to find a bottle at some point

Willet - new for me and I really enjoyed it. Not on the super spicy end of the rye spectrum which I like. Super smooth, great bottle.

Alberta - was pretty ripped by the time I got to this one but still awesome....

Thank you again @juankay20 for the samples, much appreciated!

Killed the rest of my 1920 tonight, soooo good.

I love the Disco 4. With the SH 14, I get a ton of oak and I prefer the sweeter notes and complexity of the Discos...2 is my favorite. I'm not kicking Sam out of bed though...

If you like the Sam Houston 14, you should try the Calumet 14. Very similar...I'm beginning to think my preferred age is around 12 years old (ECBP, Knob Creek). Tons of flavor, but the oakiness is more balanced.

You know they sell smaller glasses, right?
The glasses were left in the home when we bought it as a short sale in 2011. It's the beach place so never bothered to get any others. Lol. I need to measure the ounces for my own knowledge.

Love the man pours @Highli99 but in all seriousness you're missing out on some of the bourbon experience - the nose! Fill that glass half-way and refill it twice as often. When it's filled to the top like that, the vapors are just getting lost out the top - pouring half the glass will let the empty part of the glass capture them a bit and direct them right into your nose as you sip.
