@pacmartine sent me WLW samples too and I was wow’d. I can see why these bottles cost so much more since it was exponentially better. BTACs will ruin you for all other BT products

Damn guys. This was TOUGH!! I tried them 5x to try and make sure.

Ultimately, this felt like comparing a Hatori Hanzo sword vs a Hatori Hanzo sword.

Or, it felt like.....

They can both be out of this world. For me, GTS does have some inconsistent years, but in the good years, it's top notch. WLW for the 7-8 different vintages is more like pappy 15 in that it is very consistently excellent.

I have to call a draw.

The GTS earned a slight edge, but that is my bottle that has been stored perfectly. The WLW was poured into a sample bottle and mailed to me....ugh. It is a draw. Sorry, but it is that close!!

Anyone tried the Boone County Wheated Bourbon 7yo Single Barrel?

I wonder how it would compare to the Weller Antique 107... Same tart cherry forward profile?

Yeah, I know it's BT vs MGP but I'm just wondering if it gets close to the 107 profile. I don't think Larceny does and neihter does any MM or Rebel Yell.

That question I asked a few days back got me thinking... I'm curious to y'alls opinions.

If we did not know OWA107 was a cheap bottle of wheater back in the day and it was just released last month: what would be a fair price for its MSRP? My thought is, it would probably be between current retail and the secondary. I keep trying to find a good/solid bottle of high proof wheater to compete with the 107 but I'm not sure there is one. And no, MMCS does't get close imo...

I would easily pay $100, but then I wouldn't drink it as often. I had a similar conversation with @JeepologyOffroad last night about Stagg Jr. He'd pay far more than I would for Stagg Jr. I don't think it's 3x better than Knob Creek Single Barrel Select. But he does.

Now OWA107 is a different animal, because there is nothing of similar quality and price. I'd be comfortable at $100, $125 or so with WA State's stupid taxes.

I'm on the same page, man. If we look at its closest competition, the Full Proof, even at $100/$125 is relatively underpriced. Or, the Full Proof is overpriced, don't know. It's hard to find a bottle of WFP on the secondary for less than $300. Yes, it's a little better than the 107, but not by much...

I haven’t opened yet but everyone loves Lost Monarch. They say it’s MWND without MWND price. Pick up 3 more bottles for me and let me know total :)

Larceny BP at $50 is very good.

How prevalent is Old Forester single barrel, barrel strength? How good is it? What should I pay? How far should I drive to get some?

I've only seen it in the stores once. I was there at the same time as two other bourbon hunters that I've seen before and we each bought a bottle for $89 I believe. If you like OF and really hot barrel strength, then it is worth the drive. To me, it's like Stagg Jr but banana notes found in OF vs cherry notes found in Stagg Jr.

I could be wrong, but I believe they're all store picks; it seems to be more exclusive than other single barrels. When I spoke to the guy at my store, he indicated these were offered in smaller batches than normal, I think he only had 4 or 5 cases total. The barrel from my local place was IMHO fantastic, I've read that many store picks are a little too hot, but this one was perfect for me. I think I paid $85 plus tax for mine. I initially grabbed 2 and went back for 2 more (plus 2 more for others, lol).

What is the verdict on these? I don’t recall.

I bought a few bottles of the Lost Monarch to try bc everyone was raving about it. Opened it 2 weeks ago and the first pour was pretty underwhelming and bland to me. I thought maybe bc I've been drinking a lot of BP, CS stuff lately and this only comes in at 90 proof. Tried it again last night and it opened up nicely with floral notes and nectarine. My wife thinks it smells like stone fruit. Definitely a nice drinker for the under $30 price tag.

just opened one of mine, it is light on the proof but there is so much going on. I get stone fruit, some grassy herbal note, lots of citrus. And the oily mouthfeel is awesome. It’s a winner for me. If you don’t want your extra bottles send them my way hahah
