Actually planning a 1792 show down someday soon. Small Batch vs Bottled in Bond vs Full Proof vs 12 Year. Hopefully fun and scientific!!
I’ve had them all except the 12yr. I’ve got a store pick that I haven’t cracked yet.

My ranking:

BiB
Small Batch
Full Proof

I usually love higher proofs but it didn’t improve the 1792 IMO.

Do a blind comparison then compare to the bourbon junkies:

I did these 3 as well at one point during the pandemic, IIRC I preferred the full proof & small batch just a hair over BiB. I usually have all 3 on hand, and its usually more a question of "what am I in the mood for" vs which is better. Smooth banana vs spicy vanilla.

Well yessir

Could have had a case of Sweetens Cove today. I bought exactly zero. I'll try yours if you buy some, but no way I'm paying retail for one. The bottle is pretty cool though. Smartly designed bottles are round or square so they can't stick you on the shelf sideways. I see Knob Creeks sitting sideways all the time.

I haven't had any of this year's batches yet, is there a consensus on one?

IMHO there's really no bad ECBP, but the increased price tag is making it a bit less of a great buy. I only bought 1 or 2 bottles of the A & B offerings this year, they were very good but not "run out to the store to buy more" good, especially at $75-$80. YMMV. I think I liked the B521 a hair more than the A121, but they were very close. Last year's C920 was one of the best offerings to date IMHO.

I liked the B521

I loved this batch. I opened it up last week. I picked it up in upstate NY for 64 bucks. I wish I would have bought more than one bottle (well, I bought 5 bottles, but all different lol). Locally its 86 bucks. I'm not interested in spending that.

Ultimately this.............I also really liked the C919.

I have a bottle open and one unopened.

Man down, this one went fast.

Have to decide what will take its place on the shelf......
  • Four Roses - Small Batch Select
  • 1792 FP store pick
  • High West Rendezvous Rye
  • Knob Creek Single Barrel Select
  • Redwood Empire Lost Monarch
  • Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Strength
  • Old Forester 1920

None of those are wrong. The only disappointing drink I had on your list is a 1792 FP, but it was a store pick, and I'm pretty sure the store taster had covid when he picked the barrel.
Lol, those seem to be very hit or miss. This store pick was damned good, I picked up a few bottles earlier this year.

Edit - somehow misread the response as OF SP, that's what I have a few bottles of. The 1792 line is one of my favorites, I'm hoping this store pick lives up to the rest.

That’s a good list of replacements BUT…my vote would be for opening a new bottle of JD SBBP.

It’s one of 2 bottles that’s always in my opened bottle rotation. If I must choose from the list, I’d open up the Knob Creek. Their select barrel picks are usually pretty special!
