Hard to go wrong with a KC store pick!

How is the Willett? I passed on it, but think it’s still there.

I personally love Willett Rye and this Blackened version is no exception.

This is a little sweeter than the standard Willett, but it’s all focused on the front end of the palette so it(the sweetness) isn’t cloying or over lingering. Has a light, clean, full flavored finish, which I like.

Typically I prefer much longer finishes especially when deep baking spice flavors are involved. This one isn’t exactly that but it finishes nicely enough where I wouldn’t feel shortchanged

That one in the pic is a chapter 5 but I feel bad opening it until we finish our chapter 2.

A quick pic I just took of our whiskey corner

I need a whiskey corner. I only have like 100 open bottles though. I’m guessing that I can’t afford a membership.

Actually monthly dues weren’t that bad pre Covid. Can’t say what they are now because it isn’t really talked about but I’m sure they’ve gone up because of Covid.

2 of our parlor rooms actually have convertible poker tables, one 6 person, one 8 person. Have wanted to host a game here for along time but it hasn’t ever worked out. Hope to try again after the holidays.

I’ve even thought of holding a future meetup here, we have plenty of space. We can easily accommodate 4+ tables in our wine cave.

Damnit this makes me want to try it even more, but the only bottle I've seen so far around here was $250. I don't want to try it that bad lol

Hoping for two things here. One, that the second and opened up pour from this bottle improves. And that drinking it from manufacturer matching drinkware improves it. I was not impressed the first time.

Nose is banana and ethanol...highly reminiscent of isoamyl acetate, an ester used in banana flavorings.

Sip one was a warmup, sip two I gave this Tennessee whiskey the Kentucky chew, sip three is pretty good, much better than I remember from my first tasting a couple weeks ago.

I'm still looking for a reason to buy and drink the Jack 10yr over the Jack SB BP.

We used to have our own barrel select JD barrel proof bottles. That stuff was impressive, mostly because it didn’t really taste like Jack at all :)

It was also no slouch in the alcohol department, clocking in at 122 proof.

It was also surprisingly complex and flavorful. Wish I had some tasting notes on it but we ran out of it pre pandemic

^this, 100%

I was skeptical of the blackened version even though I thought if Willet was involved it couldn't be too bad... it turns out it was pretty darn tasty and a nice surprise.

It was everywhere by me when it first came out, ~150. It's sparse right now, people obviously found out it's more than just a special release.

150? Probably not, but the juice is good

How widely released was the Coy Hill? I saw it in a s******* group for $600 so my assumption is people were getting in fistfights over it
