Interesting. Have you experience with Calvados? If so, how do they compare?Decided to crack open the Compass Box this evening. I was supposed to have people over for craps and an Octomore tasting but we had to push that back due to people being under the weather.
Started with the Orchard House. I may have poured a little heavy on that one as I was more of a rocks glass. It smells overwhelmingly of apples, both raw and cooked, it's easy to tell how they got the name, very sweet smelling. ....
I don't think so -- at least not this year. But Mark might have some older bottles hanging on from previous years...
2 different pours, once or twice a week.So I’m wondering how many pours do you have each night.
I usually have 3-4 different 1oz pours a night
I know people like @Highli99 has 12oz
But wondering what everyone else has
I never have more than 2 pours, unless it’s the weekend
hmmmm, I hadn't thought about it that way. Been a while since I had calvados, but it does have a lot of overlap. Obviously it's a higher proof. I've got some apple brandies and there are some overlaps. In fact, it's probably more apple flavors then the applejacks/brandies I have.Interesting. Have you experience with Calvados? If so, how do they compare?
Compass Box produces a lot of great bottlings, Their Eleuthra is excellent, but I think out of production, and the Peat Monster is out of this world. They used to do Compass Box tastings at the National Press Club in DC...great stuff.

Hands down my favorite Irish. Poured it for 5 coworkers drinking jameson on Thursday evening before heading to a brewery and they were pretty blown away.Already thinking about my St Paddy’s Day lineup. Glad I found this one today.

Two doesn’t make me drunk. I could still drive a school bus, but only a short one.Well the dunk contest was:
Toppin wins dunk contest with one-handed slam

Big Yellow Spot fan here, too. But it's awfully hard to choose among this and Red Spot, plus the comparable Redbreasts (esp. the new 27-year!) and the ever-changing Midleton Very Rare -- especially since they're all made by Irish Distillers at the New Midleton Distillery.Already thinking about my St Paddy’s Day lineup. Glad I found this one today.
If you can find a Blue Spot, it blows away all the other Spots. RB 12 Cask Strength is great as well.Already thinking about my St Paddy’s Day lineup. Glad I found this one today.

Just imagine the Irish whiskey tasting you could put together!
Right now, I’ve got these:
Green Spot
Blue Spot
Yellow Spot
Redbreast 12 Cask Strength
And I have these coming, but they are 50ml.

I’ve been considering getting the full Redbreast line up. The $650 price tag of the 27yr might deter me from that one. I’d love to test drive it first.
So, we are drinking together on St. Paddy’s? Hahahaha
I think it was a previous donation.I don't think so -- at least not this year. But Mark might have some older bottles hanging on from previous years...
Sorry for your loss, but please check your spelling. Assuming you meant "passed" and not "passes". If "passes" is correct, maybe there's something we can do to help? My intention has been to lighten your heart and help you get past your loss through laughter. Best wishes.Cracked this open last night at the end of the evening after poker. Good friend of the family and myself toasted my Dad, who passes away in May.

Nikka Coffey Grain or Coffey MaltI'm planning a poker and whiskey tasting night in a couple of weeks, and Japanese whiskeys were requested. That's one of the few areas I haven't dipped my toe into yet (largely because I already spend way too much on bourbon/rye/scotch). Looking for some recommendations for a mid-level bottle (say $50-$70) or two from my pcf whiskey brethren. Most of those coming are casual whiskey folks, they appreciate a nice bottle but they're not nuts like me.

Grain of salt...I don't dig scotch and most Japanese whiskeys are very similar to non-Islay scotches. My selections are very easy drinking.I'm planning a poker and whiskey tasting night in a couple of weeks, and Japanese whiskeys were requested.
