If anyone is interested in a trade, I have the following bottles available:

Old Carter Rye Batch 8
Michters 10 Year Rye (2021)

I have open bottles of both and they are fantastic (hell, I’m drinking the OC rye right now), but I just have too many backup bottles at the moment, and I’m more interested in trying something new to me.

Pls feel free to PM interesting offers.

wellers antique and the new riff rye and the best value to taste I have come across. wild turkey 101 is really good for a basic cheap option

Definitely try it. It can be had between $20-27. But don’t tell too many people. I don’t want it to be a $40 bottle soon haha

just checked on ohlq and there isn't with in 25 mile of me. probably the norm and why i have never seen it.

I made the mistake of comparing the Sagamore Cask Strength to the Sagamore Double Oak. The D.O. is skunky by comparison. The C.S. is magnificent.

I really enjoyed the CS and have a back up. I had to get the DO online, just not available here. Really looking forward to that 2nd bottle of CS!

I’ve had a couple different local bourbons and mostly thought they were meh at best, basically made for the novelty of buying local. One of our sons lives just down the road in Ann Arbor and he bought this for me for Christmas. I’ve been meaning to post it because I think it is truly excellent. I don’t consider myself knowledgeable on whiskey but I guess I know what I like.

I am a huge Bruichladdich fan... Where'd you manage to find the Octomore? The wonderful govt run ABC stores here in Virginia always look at me like I just sneezed when I ask them to order anything from Bruichladdich they can get their hands on.
VA is so strange. If you can find something in VA it's often cheaper than anywhere else given they aren't making a profit, but the selection is painfully limited. No retailer in VA carries Octomore or as far as I know will ever carry them. You can very rarely find them listed on the VA ABC website as an item, but they are never in stock. I don't know if there is some kind of special order system or something that people are going through sometimes and that's why they are listed.

Anyways, you can find them from retail all the way to 4x retail price in DC with some looking and I'm close enough to the city that it's a nice 90 minute round trip(and I usually find something else to pick up while I'm there). I've bought from MacArthur Beverages recently. Good spirits selection though their specialty is wine. In general DC is kinda strange because they have no 'state laws' to follow and can do all kinds of funky stuff.

The 10 year for this year came directly from the distillery website: https://www.bruichladdich.com/laddie-shop/octomore/octomore-ten-aged-years-90-3ppm/
Mine came as a 700ml bottle which makes me think it wasn't bottled for the american market, but it shipped from NY without customs info on it like other spirits I get normally from other seas so it makes me think they imported a bunch into NY and then 'distributed from there'.

https://www.htfw.com/ is also great for sourcing stuff from the UK. I've bought stuff from there on Wednesday and had it in hand on late Friday, it's pretty wild. Shipping can be a bear, but if you build up like a 6-8 bottle wishlist and get more than ~800$ the shipping is free. Just don't buy American spirits from them, the prices can be insane given the back and forth. I've actually purchased stuff from them that was cheaper even with shipping than buying stuff in DC.

Other than that, you can get stuff just buying online domestically by searching for the exact bottle, putting it in your cart and seeing if they balk at shipping to VA. When I've had a specific bottle I wanted I've never not been able to find it within 90 minutes. Thank god scotch isn't like bourbon, I'm sure this only works because it's relatively obscure scotch and not the same bourbon 100,000 other people are looking for.

I bought my 11.1 at an abc store. Scotches are usually on all the taters radar.

But I’m sure you can just order them online

Strange is right. I walked into the local VA ABC store one day and saw this sitting on the shelf, mixed in with a bunch of other bourbons...
