Anyone into J. Mattinglys? They’re a bit controversial but were known to be consistently good.

I bought a bunch of bottles but never opened them. They’re pretty far down my list in the order to be opened so I didn’t know if anyone else was interest in them.

I’ll be purging a lot of bottles since my wife says I have too many. I’m glad she doesn’t look at my chip collection

Cream of Kentucky - Bottled in Bond Rye
Not worth the price of admission.
I'd rate it near the Chicken Cock rye, which is priced similarly, and also not worth the price of admission.

I'm happy to trade samples of it for other mediocre samples that I've not tried!

4th place, saz 18

I'm guessing this is what a mature bottle smells like, damn. New to me.

A little subtle/light on the nose...musty/earthy.

Thin palate with leather, tobacco, rye.

Unique finish...menthol, Eucalyptus, light pepper.

3rd place, ER 17

Better nose, a little more proof.

Cinnamon, subtle apple and clove on the sniff.

Classic bourbon flavors on the palate, especially vanilla and toffee. Little oak.

Quick/dry finish.

Final two were neck n neck... I thought wlw was gonna be tough to best, but nope.

2nd place, WLW

definitely more my jam... The aroma, flavors and finish were strong to quite strong. Amazing balance coming off the first two. Wow!

Amazing caramel corn nose, hints of tabacco and leather.

Warm and sweet sipper, oily/creamy. More oak with obvious fruit presence and spice.

Lengthy finish.

1st, handy

I'm a rye guy, and this came through. Bold, spicy, rich!

Citrus and spice nose

Toffee, fruit, clove and subtle chocolate palate!

Spicy, warm finish. Yessir!

Also finally had this since the bottle was near the end...

Enjoyed it. Earthy roasted peanuts on the nose and taste, but in a likeable way. Oak present too.

Also typical JD banana, some tobacco.

solid 100 proofer.

I think I'm gonna love this place.

So how was your Tuesday?
Holy shit, what state are you in? Your $15 Limited Edition pours are like $40 here and Bulleit is $15.

Blanton's is $8? Stagg Jr is $15? Lot B is $25? FOUR ROSES LE IS $20? I WOULD NEVER LEAVE THIS PLACE.

Oh yes, this isn't most places. Couldn't be happier I have found it.

This is a gem surrounded by nothing but corn fields, a straight 20 minute drive from home.

Far away from "normal," certainly Cali at least haha

I "only" have ECBP C920 in the glass tonight, unlike you lucky gentlemen. However, I am thoroughly enjoying it! Bottle is running low, but I still have 2 backups!

Cheers boys

Wasn’t bourbon, whiskey, or scotch, but every sip was a fantastic flavor experience!

I’ve been considering a bottle of Redbreast 27yr. I’m pretty sure that I would love it, but I’d like to test drive it first.

Anyone want to trade a sample with me? Or I’ll buy a sample?

This video might have sealed the deal. And it’s hilarious.

Kicking the night off with Whistle Pig 12 year. Delicious whiskey, but expensive whiskey. I think I will pass on the low proof 12 year next time...
I concur.

My bottle is an 86 proof 12 year store pick. It is very good, but overpriced. “Retoasted.” I don’t know what that means.

I’m a proof whore. I want a rye over 110 proof. This would be an excellent bottle to introduce someone to ryes, or for someone who REALLY enjoys a good low proof rye. Yet still, very pricey.

My favorite allocated product that I can find with some effort. Cheers!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Weller Antique 107 (OWA) would be my daily drinker if I could find it at retail consistently. Even with my high taxes, I can usually get a bottle for $77 out the door. No complaints. I’ve got 6 bottles at the moment. :cool

I've said the same thing. For the price point its delicious. Hell, if I could only have one, affordable bourbon, this may be it .
