Anyone ever tried this Pinhook before?

Perhaps. I value it at $70. All the whiskey I buy here is msrp, no tax. I'm still hopeful to find some here...

I even have some scouts, lol

I fear I might see the B522 first...

I love that you guys LOVE scotch. I almost wish I did...

Fact is I hate scotch, American single malt, and Japanese whiskey. I almost hate Irish too, but the Blue Spot saves that one for me. I am a bourbon and rye guy. I don't see that changing any time soon. I really want to like the others though, should I be trying harder?!

I’m right there with you.

Honestly I don’t think we need to be trying harder. A lot of it is a love it or hate it thing. Don’t force it. I feel like some are predisposed to liking it and not kinda like cilantro or onions etc. I love stinky onions and cilantro and others hate them! To each there own

Could it be the style of scotch you don't like? Personally, I'm not a fan of the big smoky peat bombs that many scotch drinkers just fawn over. The phenols combined with the smoke is like drinking moonshine that's run through an ash tray from a menthol smoker.

Give me a nice highland single malt and I'm a happy camper.

Hey, I am getting near one of those "special moments" in life (paying off RIDICULOUS student debt). I have been saving two bottles for the occasion, of which I will pop one. If you wanted to save the best for last, would you pop the Pappy 15 or the Eagle Rare 17 first?

My vote is the Pappy 15. Popping the Pappy 15 would be more of a symbolic moment imo. I think the ER17 is definitely better based on what peeps say.... thoughts? (I've never tasted either)

As someone who doesn't like beer but has tried a lot of god damn beer as every person who heard I didn't like beer took it as some kind of personal affront, and claimed 'you just haven't had good beer' it is best just to say 'you know, not everything is for everyone.'

Man, I tried, I really really tried to like bourbon. Wheated and unwheated, funky and sweet, 'regular', lincoln county, almost all of it, just yuck. Don't even try anymore. I'll grab me an Irish or a Scotch and be plenty happy. Don't have one of those, I'll take a water. Not gonna look down my nose at you or make you feel bad cause bourbon is your drink, just isn't mine and not gonna force it.

I'm right therewith you. scotch makes me gag and irish whiskey just doesn't have enough flavor.

I like rye and bourbon in that order.

Don’t like beer, there are also other things I don’t like. Example for some reason one of the most beloved bottle in this thread is painful for me to drink along with their relatives in the family tree and that my friends is the Heaven Hill brand. I go back to the Larceny, Elijah Craig and I just don’t enjoy them. I guess my palette isn’t that refined but I’m not going to waste time trying to figure it out while I enjoy countless other drinks.

Drink what you like and like what you drink! Same for lots of things like great food and cigars. There's no "one size fits all". No need to force it

I find myself bouncing back and forth on bourbon, rye & scotch with the occasional irish whiskey mixed in. The japanese whiskeys are OK but usually overpriced imho, so I typically steer clear of those. Currently in more of a rye zone at the moment.

Though.....
Same here, none of my locals have gotten it yet, really odd.

Booyah, finally found me some A122

Totally worth the wait, this is one of their best recent offerings. Possibly better than anything from 2021.....
