My first attempt was meh as well, so don’t beat yourself up.
After I kinda knew what I was hoping to achieve, my second attempt really took form, I love barrel strength bourbons and ryes, so I started my second attempt with 2 ounce pours of only high proof offerings that I liked. I try not to duplicate anything that has already been added. I figure if I liked it, it’ll play nice with others I liked as well. If I have one that I don’t care for as much, I just leave it out. Adding new pours also depends on how frequently you take a pour from your bottle. I try to take/add a 2oz pour each month, so I have to carefully choose what I think it needs added next. Sometimes I think it needs more rye, sometimes it needs a bourbon. It’s a slow evolution but one that has been fun to taste the changes over the months.
I’ve been really lucky with this infinity bottle. It has yet to take a step backwards, but as long as I continue to add pours from bottles that I really like, it should only get better! I also started a Ryefinity rye only bottle that still needs a few more pours until it’s ready to sample. It smells amazing already…I can’t wait for it to get filled.
