Playing catch-up after an insanely busy couple of weeks.

I was at a convention last weekend, and the whiskey selection at the hotel bar left a lot to be desired. They did have one I hadn't tried before: Hudson Whiskey Do the Rye Thing.

To put it kindly, I was underwhelmed. It had a strong, sweet acetone character on both the nose and the palette, and it burned like hell for a 90ish proof. I will definitely not be drinking this one again - bleah.

The only other decent option was Woodford Reserve, which IMO is okay but not one of my favorites. Had a double and it was fine until I got the bill: $24 plus tax and tip! Damn, I could have almost bought a fifth for that!

I've been meaning to buy a backup. Or 3. I see them in waves around me about twice a year. The inventory arrives, takes a couple weeks to disappear from the shelves, then six months later it happens again.
