Yep! Great story about that one…Jack and 7 has been my drink for 15 years…had a card night about 12 years ago and someone had bought me barrel proof….so that night I decided to break it out (no I wasn’t versed in it just assumed it was a different Jack) and I was making my drinks a little stronger than half and half….after 4 in 90 minutes I could barely read my cards and wondered WTF was going on. Next morning I realized it was 130 proof

That’s why I wanted it! I love high proof ryes, and this is no exception.

The nose is the most delicious cream soda ever with subtle rye notes. But the palate is straight Sagamore amped up.

I haven't had any other sagamore but I found it had red fruit, mint, and pepper. It was like a cocktail out of the bottle.

What batch? 2 or 3 I'm guessing?

It's 6-7 year old, distilled in ky.

Batch 2 is described as a spice bomb with long finish. Very different/unlike most old carter offerings.

Batch 3 more nuanced, sweet upfront with lesser and tabacco finish.

How much as well?

My local store still has a few of these left from their barrel but every time I go to grab another one, something else shiny and new distracts me

Definitely a pure sugar bomb!! Well worth the $55 they sell for here.

Funny how we were talking about the JD SBBP’s becoming harder to find and I find these little cuties on sale for $30 each (750ml bottles here usually go for $70) so it turned out cheaper this way!

Somebody remind me when they register on August 24 that we should all do the same please. If I remember to do it that day I'll post as well.

My other online bourbon stalking project is to be on top of it the day Frey Ranch releases their barrel strength rye online. I do NOT want to miss a bottle of that.

In other news, I successfully removed my old water heater and replaced it myself today. The water is hot, the burner runs, the water runs, no leaks anywhere.

So I'm gonna drink some bourbon now.
