Getting started late with some donkey juice

Definitely get the oaky toasted marshmallow on the nose.
The raisin note is absolutely there on the palate, caramel too.
Have to agree with the sweet cocoa finish too.

Nice job guys. A nice bottle of whiskey!
Best New Riff I've had. Anyone drink it regularly?

I've got a New Riff bourbon SB, rye SB, balboa rye, and malted rye. I like all of them, balboa probably the least. I imagine if I had gotten in on this group buy, that bottle might have beaten them all.
The Malted 6 year is unique and great. Not the same as the Bourbon though. So good. New Riff will become a player. I would love an old New Riff - 10, 12 year? Coming in 24 or 26!

I got up really early this morning and headed to a bottle draft run by my favorite store.

Heaven Hill 17yr went first.
Then Weller CYPB.
Then Weller Full Proof.
Then Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2021.
Then Willett 8yr bourbon.

With the 6th pick in the 2022 whiskey bottle draft, @Saoliver selects:

Old Forester 150th Anniversary Batch 2! I had it #3 in my pre-draft ranking, so was very happy that it fell to #6.

Got a store pick Knob Creek Rye too.

Which Little Book was that? I'd have put it above some of the Weller if it was the right chapter. Surprised Coy Hill was outside the top 6. I'd have taken EHT barrel proof over Weller FP.

Nice acquisition.

These mini JD’s are pretty cool. The juice in them is really good!View attachment 985423
I completely agree, and I am no longer a JD fan. Jack (Black label) was my non-scotch whisky of choice in college, and always have some in the bar for non-discriminating guests. I used to use it for bourbon sauces and BBQ, but have found a better cooking flavor in Makers.

These little bottles (when I can find them) have me reconsidering visiting the local distillery.
