These little bottles (when I can find them) have me reconsidering visiting the local distillery
I’ve seen the mini single barrel ryes before, but never the mini barrel proofs…especially a selected pick like the ones I got for @Pinkdan and myself. I need to see if there’s any more floating around my way so that I have a decent supply.

I used to drink old No.7 in my college days as well and I cringed when the SBBP’s were recommended to me. I’m so glad I took a chance on the SBBP because it’s easily one of my favorite pours.

I've been mostly off PCF for a couple weeks, just getting back into the swing of things.

I was in Columbus for a trade show, and visited a few hospitality suites. This was the best of the bunch:

The amazing thing to me is she told us at our BBNAGB tasting that these were not released and only available in the gift shop.

Edit: as I think about it, I wonder if she meant a SB version
She definitely said the 6yr malted rye was a distillery only offering when she gave us a sample of it after our barrel selection.

It worked…I bought a bottle and wish I had grabbed two  :ROFLMAO:

They started to appear in online retailers inventory and select stores in a few states not too long after we had the BBNAGB pick. New Riff doesn’t sell to NC yet, so how or why they did the public release is inconsequential to me.

Could be just a coincidence that they were planning to do a large release of it outside the distillery or we were told it’s exclusive to get us to buy some. I could care less what it is…it’s a really good bottle and I got mine the only way possible to me at the time!

The day after the BBNAGB I stopped by Hard Rock for some cards. One dealer started up a convo about Barrel Tastings (needless to say, he got extra friendly tips from this guy). During the discussion he asked if I had a chance to try the New Riff Malted Rye, told him yes, and that at least one guy just picked up a bottle from the store.

He was surprised, as he said they only sell it from the distillery. So either they were discussing SB Malted Rye, or it's just very, very new as a store offering.

In the end, I showed him the photo you put out on the group chat. He looked at his watch and mentioned needing a break to run to the store before it sold out.
