Rant mode:

One of my best local places changed hands last year. Had a lot of allocated stuff, and most priced very fairly. Used to be able to get super-allocated stuff at a modest markup. Not any more. Full secondary and then some.
Dammit.

And yes, I know that I still have several honey holes with amazing deals and I shouldn’t complain. But this one, while more expensive, was very consistent on scores.

I believe after they change hands their “ranking” with the distributors goes back to zero so it’s likely that they don’t get as much as the old owner did. What I heard from my store owner who said he got way more this year than in past because of this.

Me too. Mainly due to this thread back in the day. Funny part is I’ll have them for quite some time because unlike many, I can’t stand basically the entire Heaven Hill lineup.
I have since found another B522 so now I have 2. There's nothing like a blind taste test to give you confidence to buy multiple bottles.

As far as the rest of their lineup goes, I was never a huge fan of Henry McKenna or Evan Williams. But what about Parker's Heritage? These have been some of the finest bottles I've ever had. Perhaps because they're such limited releases and change annually, you can't really count them as part of the HH family.

Never had the Heritage but was also gun shy to pull the trigger on a bottle because I don’t like EC (save the 18), Larceny. Bought an Old Fitz but not sure if I’ll ever open it.

Old Fitz is another great one from HH. I've enjoyed the 15yr and it's so difficult to get, that I have not cracked the 9 year and don't know if I will unless I can find another bottle.

EC18 is also another good one. They might not be firing on all cylinders like Buffalo Trace, but it certainly up there on my list of favorite distilleries.

Parker's had one dud over the past like 7 years... It was that god-awful orange curacao. But if you forget that one ever existed, it's an amazing collection.

I found one yesterday, but they also had B522, so I went for that instead. Am I missing anything skipping A122?
I wouldn’t necessarily say you’re missing anything other than the chance to taste another batch. They’re all really good, so it’s not like you chose a lesser bottle. I think B522 is terrific! I’ve only had a sample of A122, so this was a very fortunate find for me.

Between Brad, Mariano, and now our very own @Okku , I'm already watching way too much YouTube at work. Just cut to the chase and tell me if I need to go back and buy the A122 or if I should just be happy with what I got. Or if I should go back and buy b522... Or if I should go back and buy both...

Someone tell me what to do! It's getting colder and colder out there!!!!

Mash & Drum says it's very good, but B520 is better. LOL Of course it is. B520 is the best!

Bourbon Junkies don't like it.

ADHD says it's an 8.9/10 which is a really high rating from him.

Fine .. fine!!! I'll go out in this nightmare weather and see if it's still there...
So is the circle of life complete? Or just beginning... This will lead to me having too much to drink one night right before a TCR sale, which will then cause me to go out and need to purchase extra racks, which will then cause me to need to go out and purchase more bird cages... Which will then force me to say that I bought too many chips lately and need to start buying bourbon again.
