Wasn’t a fan of Noah’s. Glad others are liking it.

I love love love Noah's Mill. The one Rowan's Creek I had was "mid" at best.

I saw a Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Rye today for $70. Anybody seen/had/tasted/bought one?

Little high Rye bourbon for Fryeday. I did not enjoy the neck pour of this, but the second pour has been excellent.

Nose: Vanilla, honey, apple
Palate: Oak, caramel, then honey and vanilla
Finish: Spice and dry oak, long and lingering, almost a dark chocolate at the end

Whiskey room? Is my room a whiskey room? 2 poker tables and 10 playable sets vs. 230 open bottles...poker room or whiskey room?
Yes, yours counts too.

Mine is many shelves of whiskey and poker chips, my gun safe, and my wife’s drum set (for now). But that needs to go so that I have more room for whiskey shelves.

Here’s my internal dialogue every time I look at whiskies (or bourbons) at the liquor store:

* How much better is a $60 bottle than a $30 bottle? (My answer: A lot better)

* How much better is a $90 bottle than a $60 bottle? (A: Somewhat better)

* $135 vs $90? (A: Only a little better)

* $200 vs $135? (A: Hard to tell the difference)

* $300+? (Not worth it to me, I drink more than one sip per month)

… and then I buy Armagnac because it is underpriced.
It really depends on the bottle but pretty good rules of thumb.

Went to a retirement party for a person who is really special to me. They founded the company where I work and hired me 21 years ago.

Pretty good whiskey selection!

This person means enough to me that I gave them this set of poker chips as a retirement gift.

I shouldn’t be, but I’m just amazed at how much difference the whiskey makes in an Old Fashioned. Used some Laws 4 Grain Bourbon and it’s not good at all- tastes like corn on the cob. Yuck.

Shifted to some Jefferson’s- much better.
