Fryeday. Had to dust this one off. It’s been a while. Now I’ll kill it and get another.

It's great when you have a relationship with a store manager so that you can acquire some bottles that normally you wouldn't be able to. But what's even better is when she's as much into bourbon as you are, and actually makes the trips to Kentucky to do tastings before making a store pick.

Back in March, I was chatting with her while visiting the store one day, and she told me that she had just gotten back from her Elijah Craig tasting at Heaven Hill. She says this to me as I was holding two bottles of Batch a122 that I found hidden behind the newer release. I almost dropped them.

She then proceeds to show me pictures on her phone from the tasting, describing to me that this Elijah Craig single barrel was like nothing she's ever had. Heavy notes of char, oak, vanilla and some spice all wrapped up with the subtle hint of peaches. But, I'd have to wait until August to get it.

Nope!!! It arrived early! I decided to just throw a caution to the wind and buy two bottles because I know they're going to be possibly one of the best Elijah Craig's I've ever had. But this post is not about those bottles. It's actually about what you got when you purchased them. Check out these fucking awesome card protectors!!!

So how do I go about identifying these? I got them at an antique store while I was on vacation last week. Four of them were a grand total of $4.35 and at that price I thought they looked cool to sip whiskey out of.
