My wife got this for me this year

This one was very, very interesting – anybody else had it?

The lighting makes it look a lot darker than it actually is: colour more akin to something like cider vinegar (see bottom photo).

Discuss them here for the 24 days of Advent if you want. I don't mind. It is the "whiskey" thread. :ROFLMAO:

If there was an easy to find bourbon Advent calendar I'd scoop one up and make it my only Christmas gift and be happy. I'd be entrepreneurial and make one, but alcohol sales and distribution laws are WAY too onerous to be a little guy and even attempt that.

I like whisky advocate. Their facebook content is pretty good.
It was a lot more interesting for some of us when the title was "Malt Advocate", run by founder John Hansell (also founder of WhiskeyFest). As you can infer from the title, it was much more focused on Scotch and Irish whiskies, with a few articles on beer.

He used to come to a restaurant in Alexandria, VA every holiday season and do a great presentation with extensive tasting (of course!)

And through his years running the magazine, he accumulated one of the most spectacular whisky collections in the world. The bottles he pops now for special occasions are just outrageous...

So I've set some personal goals and milestones for my life in the past week. Steven Covey type stuff, to be more productive, that kind of thing. As I reach these milestones, I've got some readily available bottles that I've never tried that I've got set aside. Some of these are going to take a lot of time to accomplish, so this is several months of effort required to get to some of these.

1: 1792 Full Proof
2: Old Forester 1920
3: Four Roses Small Batch Select
4: Rabbit Hole Dareringer
5: Noah's Mill
6: EH Taylor Single Barrel
7: Have not filled this one in yet

Except for the Noah's Mill, I have all of these, unopened, or I can drive 2 minutes and buy them.

Hopefully I'll be celebrating sooner rather than later. That Taylor has been calling to me since I bought it! It's a shame for it to sit there...undrunk...

Do any of you bourbon devotees keep an infinity bottle?

If so, do you keep a list of what's gone into it?
I'm curious...does the skunky whiskey bring down the good whiskey, does the good whiskey elevate the skunky whiskey, or does an infinity bottle simply produce a median whiskey of the qualities that have gone into it?

I emptied an Elijah Craig 1750ml and began the infinity bottle. 2oz neck pours from every bottle I open. It is fantastic right now! So much so, that I want to pour 750ml into another bottle to preserve it. I’ve drunk a bunch along the way, so I have no idea how much of each remains in the bottle.

Here is the up to date list:

I thought it was you. Maybe I should try this. Sounds fun.

Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek and the like are the cheapest bourbons that I have bought. My bottle currently is smooth and sweet, with some spice and bite on the finish. I think it is better than my Blanton’s!

My guess is median whiskey. Also, not sure what the practice is for when to drink from it: drink from it whenever you want or if people wait until the bottle is filled completely.

I first tried it after 10 bourbons. Then again after 20. And now, whenever I feel like it. But it’s really good now, so I need to pour off a bunch to preserve this blend. :wow:
